Ah ok. I struggle enough with standard tuning to be honest!

Honestly you'd love open tuning, it's just a change of mindset and is pretty easy to pick up compared to normal tuning. Playing slide is awesome

Yeah, I just think I've never found a decent teacher or video lessons that explain it well! That's my excuse, anyway!

I just strung up this 3 string electric. The difference this time was that I got what looked like a fence post from my brother-in-law, and carved a neck out of it. I've been waiting for the last two weeks for the black pearl dots to arrive to finish it (which don't show up well in the photos). This is my 50th build.

My next one is going to be a 6 string guitar with a wooden briefcase as the body, with a single coil pickup, and tone and volume controls. Might take a while.

I just finished the wooden briefcase 6 string electric at the weekend. Meet "Jimi"...

It has a single coil pickup with volume and tone controls. All the artwork is burned on (took ages), and it has a "Jimi" sound hole and Jimi Hendrix signature on the headstock. Just needs a bit of adjustment on the intonation but it's not far off, just not had time yet.

I thought you might have put the headstock on upside-down though.

It's just an unusual design. I bought it a couple of years ago on ebay.

This is how it sounds, I still need to raise the low E string as it buzzes a wee bit on the first fret but no biggie.

Sound better than expected. What's it sound like when it's in tune?

Jimi never needed it to be in tune.

It's not that far out of tune there. I'm playing it a half step down too while the thing settles down. I've still got some fiddling with the intonation to do. Having that adjustable bridge will help. I did a lot of careful measuring to get the scale as accurate as possible before hand but it's always going to take a bit of work to get completely right once built. I'm pretty chuffed it's that close first time without touching the intonation.

Yep, check his live shows. Doesn't bother me that much.

Finished this electric guitar last night. I made it from a table top. I aged the wood by battering it about with some tools and then soaked it with tea and then a solution of vinegar and steel wool. It has a single coil pickup with tone and volume, all burrowed into the back of it. I need to find something to cover that up but the wiring is tucked in with nails just now.

Started as this...

Ended up as this...

And a wee demo...
