Loco I Loved 2000AD

As one who started with issue 1. I read 2000AD for years and only stopped in the early 90's and had mainy favourites; The VCs, ABC Warriers, Judge Dredd. But my favourite was Rogue Trooper.

The Case Files are great but some of the really impressive artwork suffers from being on small pages (I got used to having the larger A4 Titan Books softback reprints in the 80s/90s). They are totally absorbing though and its great to have all the stories in the right order.

Big fan of ABC Warriors as well, so I would suggest that as another to explore (although I don't think they've been reprinted recently - I found earlier reprints in my local library, along with a load of more recent Dredd stories not yet in Case File reprints).

Although not 2000AD I've just started reading Punk Rock Jesus (http://www.vertigocomics.com/comics/...ock-jesus-2012) which has the quality of late eighties 2000AD strips..... One of the best comics I've read in years.

Received the Rebellion edition Rogue Trooper Tales of Nu Earth Vol 2 from Amazon today (I have Vol 1 inbound from elsewhere too).

I'd forgotten how good the Cam Kennedy artwork on Rogue was, and the stories are fantastic too. He was always a firm favourite of mine in 2000AD, at least until the dreadful (post Gerry Finlay-Day) attempts to extend the story past its natural conclusion.

It's a lovely (and very thick compared to the Dredd Vol 3 I just got too) book, and well worth getting.

DR and Quinch are a blast. There aren't many stories either, you can probably get them in a single book

Rogue Trooper and Slaine were my favourites, might have to get those RT books

Finally started Case File 1...only a few stories in, but it is so cheesy! Admittedly, I have not read these for just over 30 years but dialogue like...

Villain : (Turns on uberbright light to blind Dredd to escape )
Dredd: "THE LIGHT...!"
Villain: "I gave you your chance, Judge-And now..."
Dredd: "...but my anti-dazzle visor protects my eyes!"

..did half make me groan!

I'm ploughing through the complete cases volume 1 too at the moment. Cheesy and dated as hell, but it's good fun and it still has bits of that classic 2000AD humour.

My Waterstones are doing the Dredd books in a buy one, get one half price deal. Works out roughly the same price as getting them from an Amazon etc.
