Carry On Confidential. By....me

I know there are a few Carry On fans hereabouts and I've conversed with many of you over the years via Carry On Line. Hope this isn't considered spamming (I'm a long-term and fairly active member) but I've got a new book coming out on the films early next year.

I've contributed, read and reviewed every Carry On book published as editor of Carry On Line and this promises something new. Here's a bit of blurb:

Carry On Confidential
by Andy Davidson
Available Feb 2012 from Miwk

The Carry On films have delighted audiences around the world for over 50 years. Saucy yet subtle, crude but never lewd, the Carry Ons really are the very best of British.

From gentle romantic comedies, through innuendo, double- (and single-) entendre to an all-too-brief dalliance with alternative comedy in the 1990s, the Carry Ons and the people who made them have become cultural icons and household names.

But how well do you really know our most beloved comedy institution?

Carry On Confidential is the thinking fan's guide to the Carry Ons, taking a fresh look at these classic British comedies. A unique spotter's guide with something new for even the most seasoned devotees, Carry On Confidential is packed with trivia, bloopers and gaffes, spin-offs and collectibles and a comprehensive guide to the locations used in every film.

You'll fall in love with the Carry Ons all over again.

Visit http://www.miwk.com for more details

I'm fairly disappointed no one's said, "Oooh, give me one...and I'd like to buy a copy too!"

Me too - if it's anything as good as the last book I bought from that company (the Muppets one Frogs, Hogs Weirdos....), then it'll be well worth the cash.

The very nice chap who's writing Frogs, Hogs... and a few other Miwk authors have also collaborated on an...ahem...less than serious guide to the classic BBC show Blake's 7. If you're a fan of the programme it's worth taking a peek.

Quick update on progress with the book. The second draft's in and it's a shade over 120,000 words, so it's going to be a large one, and no mistake. There's a couple of chapters which need a major overhaul and I reckon that'll bring the word count up to around 140,000 words. That's a lot of text.

Throw in some unique pics which bring the films to life in a new and interactive way and it looks like this is going to be a big, thick book.

Not initially. Hypocritical as it is, considering I'm a Kindle reader, I want the book to be a physical thing. I'll look into an e-version in the future, though

carryonline - Slightly off topic for the book, but not the films, but do you know of any impending Blu Ray releases in the works?
