Would YOU write for a book review/news site?

Just a quick question - would any of you consider writing book reviews, sourcing news etc?

Yes - a bit busy over the next three months but possibly in that time, and probably after it.

Sure, as long as the books were provided ;-)

Well that would be down to you

If (and it's a huge if) we did do something, I'd be using the model that works for The Music Fix - each writer is free to build links with publishers/PR agencies and is then responsible for reviewing titles or ensuring that they're farmed out for review.

I charge for writing reviews , but if the site's any good I'd be happy to plug it on my fan forum/twitter etc.

Publishers are so concerned about digital piracy these days that you'll have a very hard time getting review copies pre-publication unless it's a new author, or you're an established reviewer from a major publication.

I'd love to be involved, Colin. It would make a change from Film Journal and reconnect me with some of the writing I did as a student, which admittedly was many, many, many moons ago.

I'd give it a go, if I could squeeze the time in for the reading!

Loco No

I must admit my choice of books is rather too limited to review books, I tend to stick to Sci Fi books or Clive Cussler or Tom Clancy. Sorry.

Cool - well looks like there's some decent interest. I'm putting together some plans for early 2010 at the moment so this slots in quite nicely.

Just bumping this - a couple of years late

I won't be doing a full section, but I AM looking at launching various microsites and a books/comic reviews section would fit well with this.

Would anyone still be interested in writing, AND specifically, would anyone be keen to take a lead and organise the content side of it?

Interested in comics reviews but tell me what you need for the organisation side of it?

Really I want someone who will be able to just keep an eye, encourage writers to contribute and maybe start to put out feelers to PR agencies etc to start securing material.

Hmm - I'm still interested, though life and work can always affect these things - what are your review guidelines on length and style? Will have a go at writing some comic reviews and see what you think?

No guidelines yet - it won't be as tightly run as one of our usual sections - working out the technical bits at the moment. I would say a few hundred words for a review would be more than adequate.

It'll likely be more of a blog format than the main sections.
