This hasn't been officially confirmed yet - it's just a rumour.

It is still just a rumour and I hope it stays that way. I don't think Sam Neil is a particularly good choice. They should get a European actor to play Doc Ock preferably a German or Austrian.

Funnily enough when James Cameron was scheduled to direct in the late nineties Doctor Octopus was going to be the main protaganist and his choice of actor to play Doc Oc was........ Arnold Terminator

I think Sam Neill would make a cool Doc Ock personally.

I would like someone quirky like Billy Bob Thornton or alternatively get Bill Paxton who worked with Sam Raimi on A simple Plan.

When he was planning the first movie Sam Raimi had Laurence Fishburne in mind for doc ock, I think the guy from Darkman ( larry drake?) would really look the part, shame he isnt a big "name".

If it's true, then Sam Neil is rather a fine choice for Doc Ock.

He's far from new to Fantasy / Horror films. Made a few of those in his career.

from screenwritersutopia.com:

According to Variety, David Koepp has come up with an idea for the second film and will pen the first draft. Previously attached writers Alfred Gough and Miles Millar will then develop all further drafts from that point on.

The Batman and Superman films showed a diminishing level of interesting villains as they went along.

Spiderman has already started at the bottom of the heap! The Green Goblin is probably the most poorly conceived in both story and appearance, of all Superhero villains save possibly Nuclear Man from Supes IV. Even then it's a close call.

With the same screenwriters and director, don't expect great things from Dr Octopus.

Haha, John Cage as Doc. Oc. Never mind Spidey sense you would hear him coming with his whistling sinus!

Boink!

How about John Saxon?

I hope they will use Venom in the films as he is one of the most amazing villians in Spiderman.

Stuart.

Why you say that, the Grengoblins a brilliant villain. Explain yourself.
