USB audio in car

Sorry if this is not the right place for it, but here goes.

I have a Nissan X-Trail 2017 and have happily played audio via a cheap 32GB USB stick. I bought a SanDisk Ultra Flair USB 3 Flash Drive 128GB in the January sales and I cannot get it to work! I have formatted it to FAT 32 and tried various combinations of the allocation unit size but nothing.

At least when it was ExFat it said it was incompatible, now it says nothing.

Any ideas?

TIA.

I've had a couple of cars that will not read USB 3 sticks - a few hire cars didn't even recognise it, others wouldn't read it but do nothing. Only 1 would play the USB3

Is 128GB too big for it? It'll tell you in the manual the maximum size it can read.

The manual is totally unhelpful as is the Nissan web site. Others seem to have put 128gb sticks in although I have no idea what make etc, or whether it's true at all!

I've just tried NTFS with no joy, then back to FAT 32 with just a single album on. The display seemed to think an Apple product was connected, then nothing again. Looks like I'll have to put the old stick back in, but it is annoying.
