Toy Story 4

Didn't think they'd be able to improve on the closure, and story, of the 3rd but ... saw this this morning and it is a pure joy. But then I can't think of many Pixar duds.

Also loved the fact that my son was scared out of his wits - watching a U !!!! - at certain parts
though TBF those bits were genuinely quite creepy/scarey for a U.

I thought this was great and better than the last one. It's laugh out loud funny at times, has a good story and found something new to do with the characters with a better ending than number 3.

I enjoyed it but did feel more like a testimonial movie for Tom Hanks’ Woody than a proper finale. It’s not a patch on 3.

Agree.

It was ok but the story was paper thin unlike the other 3 which are genius.

It struggled hugely from introducing far too many characters and not using the old ones enough.

Bang average for a Toy Story film due to the bar set so high.

I thought it was great funny and moving. Beautiful looking animation. The scene where the soldier was kept left hanging wanting to get a high five got my biggest laugh. Best Pixar I've seen in years.

I don't understand this argument at all about new characters or not using the old characters enough. Or rather why it would be levelled against this one and not the previous two. For example, Ham and Slinky barely featured in 2 and 4 and both of the last two introduced new characters.

It works in the others as the characters are brilliantly written and all stories tied up.

In this one the so called evil doll is rubbish and we’ve had her story pretty much before, so the whole emotional part falls very flat. Also her redemption isn’t needed, that’s what makes the end of Toy Story 3 so brilliant, the strawberry bear has the chance at saving them and says **** them. In this they tried too hard to make everyone happy. Also the creepy dolls are just left behind, when the doll decides to leave for Bonnie. No end game for them it would seem. It’s just not great writing, which you can’t level at the others.

Reeves’s stunt biker is ok but just Ken in a new outfit.

The two stitched together were good but more lines missed than hit for me.

Forkie was the worst though, a brilliant idea but it was just poorly executed and it seriously needed a ‘voice’ you know.

I’m only harsh as the TS films are SO good.

I absolutely loved it. All of the new characters - Forky, Duke Caboom, Ducky and Bunny - absolutely stole the movie for me, and I was much happier spending time with them rather than all of the old characters.
Forky especially is wonderful (I think every single line of his dialogue made me laugh), and now I'm very excited to see his own show on Disney+.

Loved it. Was a bit cynical when it was announced as I thought 3 covered it nicely but thought 4 was a great continuation (it wouldn't surprise me if they contrive a fifth!).

It is a little bit woke in updating us on Bo's story and her new found bad-ass-ery (I wasn't particularly bothered about her being missing from 3) but given my daughter's reaction to her in the cinema, I think they've done a great job.

I did think they didn't feature the "old" characters that much, esp Jessie maybe, but this is Woody and Bo's story really. Plus, Jim Varney (Slinky) died a number of years ago and Don Rickles (Potato Head) more recently.

Loved Forky! Tony Hale is essentially playing his usual character (loved it especially early on when
).

Really enjoyed it.

Took our 3-year-old twins for their first cinema trip, and they were glued to it from start to finish.

They could easily do another one if they wanted to.

I felt that Toy Story 3 ended the "saga" but I found the ending to this more emotional on multiple levels and was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it.

Yeah, did consider my 3 yo (took my now older daughter to see Inside Out when she was 3) but I think the first reveal of the dummies would've ended in tears!

It was a risk, one of them hates the monkey in Toy Story 3, but nothing bothered them in this one, they were overwhelmed by the whole experience
