I still don't get your problem, it's been 30 years since TNG premiered and story telling had drastically changed. The show has to be different.

It's like your watching some random guys YouTube channel and letting him make up your mind for you.

I certainly will hold off criticism until after I have seen the show. With less two weeks to go I am very excited.

Wrong..

As I don't rate Discovery very highly or AK's movie The Mummy or the stuff he has written The Trek Shorts, Amazing Spider Man 2 Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness, The Transformers movies 1 and 2. And seeing PS is executive producer on this as he was on inssurection which imho is the worst of the TNG movies; has had a greater hand in this is not a good sign. But if thats not enough.

Given that the majority of Discovery writers and producers are working on Picard its not unlikey that the same people that made STD the disaster it is are going to have any more luck wrapping a new series around an older character who will be nothing like the character we knew in a starfleet and federation that is not what GR had orignally created and TNG carried forward i.e. a nice future where humans at least are not at war with each other and generally everything is rosy no predjudice or hatred. Unlike STD where they shoe-horn in current day stuff. Which I know other Treks have done the difference being those Treks had better writers.

You can still write in the style on TNG and keep the style of the same characters but in modern style (if you have good writers) ooooh wait....

If Picard is very different on how he acts (eg flys through space in Klingon time crystal time suit or acts like one of the STD crew)then someone has ***** up. with kluztman I think we went on record that he didn't like ST until they redid for the movies where Spock is a complete psycho. Also kluztman imdb is pretty much **** show although it has some good things on there from working with Abrams (fringe and Alias)

It was great fun!

Had a blast watching it.

No "wokeness" in sight.

I mean if you really wanted to you could find some parallels with the current US immigration policy but even that's a stretch. You'd really have to be some kind of alt-right basement dwelling nerd to have any problem with Episode 1.

I enjoyed it far far more than Discovery.

having a story that has parallels to the current US immigration policy isn't "wokeness", ST has always done that with parallels to current issues. edit just wanted to mention that

I really enjoyed it too.
Why haven't Amazon released it the same day as it was on in the states. I understand delays on run of the mill stuff like NCIS etc, but surely either the US could have waited a day or Amazon could have added it today? Considering its target audience, ie Trek fans, surely anyone wanting to watch it will just download it today, especially considering tomorrows Friday, so a lot go out then do family stuff on a weekend, so choice for a lot will be watch it today, or Monday.

Loved everything about it. The music, the feel, the nods to everything, the story, the mystery, really looking forward to future episodes.

Why is it one a week btw? Is it being shown on the normal telly in america?

A great start, didn't seem to have any of the 'Discovery' issues which was good to see.

It does show how fantastic Patrick Stewart is though, he dealt more real emotion in one episode than any other Star Trek venture in recent times. Class act.

The biggest compliment I can pay it is it 'felt right' which is something the major franchises have hugely struggled with in recent times.

Minor quibble, the Romulans reminded me of elves, what happened to the straight hair?

Liked some of it; Picard investigating things could have been an episode in itself; reminded me of his Ian Hood character from Eleventh Hour (that was an interesting show).

This should have been a proper 90 or 2hr pilot to get some decent investigating done rather than clunky dialogue.

Nice effects

Civie clothes are 100% better than Voyager/TNG/DS9 had to offer

Nice cinematography but please no more lens flare

Not sure why

Don't like that there are no consoles everything seems to be glass with hologram displays give me an LCARS interface over Minority Report wave hands in the air anyday and that goes for the phone thing the girl had that look ripped off from the holo communicators they use in clone wars.

Some clunky soap opera dialogue especially from the girl. the stuff about lighting and at the end with weird eye guy.

was the most jarring to me as Picard seemed to be happy with

Unusual editing choice at 1:53

Just wished AK had put the whole
thing to bed but he had to carry on with JJ's crap idea.

I can't wait to see how they introduce the klingons - if they ever do.
