We will have to agree to disagree. I can totally understand why the admiral swore and delivered it ith such passion. Picard had literally demonised Starfleet on TV a few days earlier and you could see how enraged she was.

Had to laugh at Laris and her "cheeky *******" remark - channeling Father Ted there

also lol at "this facility has 5843 days without assimilation", although the obscure markings next to it, is that Romulan or another secret language like in Futurama?

This series really needs to be available in one go. Having to wait a week between episodes when it's slow as **** is losing me.

I didn't think this was as good as the first episode. Very little actually happened other than the flashback.

The only problem I have with this is the 2nd daughter clone being instantly smitten by the creepy weirdo with bad hair & wonky teeth. & him being referred to as 'hot' in the second episode was a laugh out loud "eh?' moment.

Just to be nitpicky fan fiction doesn't have anything to do with quality, it can be good or bad. Fan fiction simply means written by fans, where as Picard is fully licensed by CBS and ergo can't be fan fiction.

Some of this series like STD comes across as bad soap opera. In real life do to tell someone you just met you lost your sibling and next ep you are in bed with them CW writers are the same plot stops so someone can tell a story from their past that coincidentally helps with current problem Supergirl suffers this on a major basis.

To be honest I think your just looking for problems.

Do you really want them to show every step that happens between two consenting adults getting into a casual sexual relationship. **** like this happens today all the time and I'd rather they took a shortcut when it came to stuff like this. Rather than stringing it out. THAT would be CW territory. It was obvious to me that there there was a timeskip and they didn't just jump into bed with each other that night.

There are only 10 episodes, I'm fine with not seeing the seduction techniques of a Romulan agent on their asset.

Well let’s just hope the rumours of Seth McFarlane trying to buy Star Trek for NBC are true and his further rumoured walkout of the talks are just the opening “HA! Call that an offer, I’ll be back when you have a more realistic price” etc

No I would like to see some Romulan skulduggery, rather than Picard get torn a new one by some Admiral. Even i cringed at the point when he mentioned demoting himself to Captain. It was not well written. The swearing was unnecessary she should of been sarcastic towards him but no she swore and gave him a dressing down like a child.

I didn't see any problems with it.

Given the whole thing is being set up for Romulan skulduggery, maybe just hold your horses a bit.

Well we got some skullduggery they've obviously infiltrated Starfleet.

The dressing down I quite liked.

In fact I thought it was almost appropriate. Picard went in thinking he was entitled to what he asked for.

The way Stewart played the scene I think this was intentional. He came across as asking nicely but at the same time fully expecting to be given it. Rather a large assumption on his part given his resignation and televised comments.

Did she go too far? Possibly, but I think the writers purposely wanted to make it clear what Picard's status was with Starfleet these days in order to emphasis in future episodes how strongly he feels about his mission and lengths he goes to accomplish it. Without starfeets help he's on his own.

It all worked fine for me.

The more I think about it the more I understand where the writers are going with it and why.

I mean when I first heard about Picard I was, wtf? What are we getting? "The further adventures of a geriatric Starfleet Captain?"

In reality if Picard had wind of a romulan plot he'd pass the information along and continue with his retirement wether he wanted to our not. Starfleet would take care of it.

Instead the writers have given him a personal stake in it, his link to Data, and severed his support from Starfleet. A clever if somewhat obvious setup. But it all makes sense if you want a Picard series.

Very clever for the writers to forget that Geordie was closer to Data than Picard ever was.

Well it's not a Geordi La Forge series is it?

And Picard had a friendship with him too. Does Data being closer to Geordi mean that's the only friendship that should be represented on screen when it comes to Data?

We're only two episodes in but so far it's much better than Discovery and a better continuation of an old franchise than Star Wars as well.

I'll actually be checking out of this thread soon. I think the series really should have been dropped all at once. So I'm going to save them up and in be back in couple of months
