Same - I like him and personally didn't see smugness. He's a car geek, that's a good thing. Loved that opening Ferrari film...

With regards the Ferrari they had.
Would that have been lent to them by a friend of the show or by Ferrari direct due to Chris Harris himself and how well respected he seems to be

Chris Harris very much from the Jake Humphrey school of self satisfaction.

Tries to have some japery with the others but it's just awkward and seems like they think he's a knob.

The re-reboot was fine and the Kazakhstan trip was actually quite fun.

It's not like the other 3 have any grace about them.
Likeability is a strange and ethereal thing. You're probably right that scientifically Matt is just as contrary but Harris has zero likeability to help carry it off.

Having said that, at least he has more about him than Rory. Bland CBBC fodder of the worst kind.

The japery was a little more natural in the old days, you can't just put three people together and say "do some bants" so they then say "read the bants off the scripts"

It had the name of a US businessman, Ferrari racer and rhino hunter Michael Luzich on the side.

This is my only issue with it. The programme looked great and most of the segments were entertaining but they are trying too hard to force a chemistry between the main three. If they just let a rapport naturally develop rather than force it via scripting it would be much better.

Top Gear Extra was dreadful, didn't even make it through all of it.

Likability is also subjective. FWIW I also like what Rory is bringing to the gang and have enjoyed his solo sections.. His recent piece in Wales with the Aerial Nomad was great.

Collectively their studio stuff was a little awkward, but once 'out in the field' I can't say I questioned their banter much at all and just got on with enjoying it.

Even better this week. All segments were great. Loved the Alfa bit trying to get through the wall. David Tennant was funny and the America road trip was entertaining with the challenges fantastic, especially the downhill segment.

Studio stuff was not so stiff either nor was the banter as forced as last week.

I liked the Alfa film, up until the hole in the wall bit. FFW'd through the celebrity interview and the supercar film felt a bit "meh" apart from the downhill race.

Same as you thought last week then but still watched this week

I thought it was not too bad and the studio banter was definitely better than last week, Rory didn't do a lot though this week.

Caught a few minutes of it finally this week and imo it's really, really bad. I can kinda see why Chris Evans was bullying the audience to make some noise now tbh (thought it was just his vanity needing an amped audience) because their general lack of reaction to anything the hosts say just kills the atmosphere dead. Not their fault, the writing and delivery of the presenters is so stilted that they simply don't know how to react, the humour is just so forced and weak that they're not laughing on cue, a presenter makes a gag... silence, there's a bit of scripted banter or conflict on a point... polite murmer because they ain't got a ******* clue if this is meant to be the "fun" part or not! It's only when they're directly spoken to that any number of audience springs into life, it's just flat, a totally flat atmosphere pervading all studio-bound sequences.

I guess it's going to take time for the presenters to build up that rapport and familiarity that the audience can just read instinctively like they could with the original team.

I find if you just fast forward all the studio stuff it's not bad. I always thought the worst part was the celeb interview stuff and they've managed to stretch that out throughout more of the show, but just don't watch it live and you can skip all of it.

It felt like they spent longer trying to slide the car through the wall than actually covering the car which seemed a mistake. The road trip was entertaining enough.

The road trip was good fun, especially the 'downhill in neutral' bit & final race. Not often you get to see a Lambo in the snow! The two of them felt like they had a bit of actual chemistry away from the script too. Hate to think how much they spent pointlessly recreating The Hangover opener though.

Still think that Alfa's hideous & far too similar in looks to a current BMW. The wall bit went on forever...

I guess LeBlanc talking about industrial equipment each week is going to be like May talking about the Dacia Sandero in old TG?

David Tennant looked ill. He needs to eat something.
