Last night's final episode was almost the perfect example of what I look for in an episode of Top Gear. You had the Icelandic segment featuring a crazy example of motorsport that was fun to watch. A nostalgic segment featuring a cult classic car (Supra) that has been recently updated, which was entertaining. The quick-fire, Chris reviewing the current best cars in particular categories is always entertaining & should be a weekly segment.

And then finally, an in-depth serious segment looking at a particular time/car in motorsport history, that is always fascinating & a joy to watch.

Now if they could just lose the dull-"star"-in-a-moderately-fast-car section, we would have Car-Show GOLD!

I'm not sure there are that many categories of car. They did the most mainstream categories last series. This series we're already getting as niche as lightweight british sports cars...

They'll never lose the star segment, it's designed to be cut out in international releases isn't it? So they can show adverts and still see all the car bits. Also it's "cheap telly" and must cost next to nothing, gives the studio audience something to do other than watch videos, etc.

But it's a tired and dull segment, especially when the guest has been on before.

As above, what a superb finale..

I could watch that Formula Offroad all day long, and while I've always appreciated that era of F1, the ground effect thing was all new on me.

The middle eps were a little shakey with this new batch, but kudos to them for what they've done so far. Hopefully that last ep is a sign of things to come.

The old new top gear was the same, I'd go as far to say they've probably thrown some money at this series to see if they can save it. But you'd never see them in Ethiopia outside a Christmas special. There always was a load of "filler" episodes where they did cheap stuff.

It does sound that way, especially with mention of a 'proper adventure' in the next series. I'd have thought Ethiopia would have counted as a proper adventure, but apparently not.

Anyone watching the latest series of this. I think it’s been pretty good so far. 3 episodes in and only 1 SIARPC segment. It seems to be road trip, car test (this weeks all electric Porsche looked fantastic) followed up by 2nd part of the road trip. For me the format works, I did hear it’s moving to BBC1 shortly.

I think it been excellent fun. They've got the balance right now. People might have had doubts about Paddy McGuinness but he is a proper TV presenter so the studio parts aren't stilted like were when Matt Le Blanc did it.

Yeah, I think they've got the balance right and there's clearly good chemistry with the three of them. We're really enjoying the current series.

It seems to be finally finding its groove. I just hope not all the road trips are variations on 'take a normal car & see if it can go up a mountain' (& while the show itself was good fun, the premise of the Nepal Christmas special was stupid. Why bother banging on about 'city cars' when 99% of their trip was going to be trudging up rocky tracks?).

Flintoff's still absolutely terrible in the studio bits & the whole "and you can watch that lap online" thing is irritating.

Agree with the comments above. I've really enjoyed this series and the balance they've found.

Something Grand Tour never got to grips with.

I think Flintoff is better in the studio than the last series, it’s going to take time to bed in to that I think.
I notice the permanent **** taking of Chris Harris has dialled right down now too.
I did laugh when Paddy tried a start in the drag race in his car. I don’t know if that was staged but it was a funny end to the car!

Going back to previous presenters, Sabine Schmitt has had cancer for almost three years - https://www.grandtournation.com/theg...ar-battle/amp/
