That would be a downer to the whole thing playing behind closed doors and no bus parade. You can’t afford any slip ups from now on.

I think loads of LFC fans are now more worried about any parade not being allowed, which is a real possibility, or the Chelsea game ( which is normally the game that the trophy would be handed over ) rather than actually seeing the title winning game.

The quicker we wrap it up the less likely it will be to be done behind closed doors. But, IMHO, we are at least two weeks away from that ( hopefully ). Though I am not sure how they plan to block Over 70s from attending games ? How are they going to prove your age ? At LFC, the concession rate kicks in at 60 so they could block Over 60s ( or at least block them from using their own ticket )

Come on now City; buck your ideas up. Don't drop too many more points this week

Good shout earlier on Twitter as well ... if it is likely that games, after the international break, are played behind closed doors then if we win the title against Palace then we should be given the trophy there and then

If they ban over 70’s from the ground as suggested does that mean Hodgson won’t be allowed in?

Sounds like the UK government aren’t rushing to close sporting events to spectators, although many countries (including the US) are closing or cancelling events.
I think it it will take is 1 or 2 players at a club to become ill and that could stop everything. Hoping Liverpool get the title before anything like this happens though.

The 2 week gap, after the Palace game, is what seems to be worrying a lot of fans - a lot can change in those two weeks.

On the subject of players catching it, there is an article from James Pierce on the Athletic site, apparently, describing the lengths the club has gone to in order to minimise the risk

I don’t want to read of anyone catching it. I’m sure all clubs are scrupulous about it at the minute but unless they isolate the players totally I can’t see how they can stop it (I’ve not read the article you are referring to BTW) Scotland ladies rugby team caught it recently so I guess even the most prepared and pampered aren’t immune!

Pretty Sure the way things are going the parade on 19th May would be scrapped. If we win it early, say against Palace we should be allowed to have one early April.

Has that date been confirmed anywhere ? Why would it be on the Tuesday and not the Monday ?

Also, if we win the CL this year then I am pretty sure I read somewhere a while ago that they'd only be ONE parade in the first week of June ?

Sorry yes it's Monday 18th. And yes that is the date, my job involves planning staff levels because of it. Due to start around 16:00 and end up on the Strand around 18:30.

Thanks saltysam.

And is it still that date even if we get to Istanbul two weeks later ? And would there be another one if we win #7 ?

I know I'm bitter, but I really hate Simeone's style of football. He constantly gets plaudits but it's just negative, defensive, constantly fouling, trying to get players booked, and hoping the other team makes a mistake, it's anti-football IMO. Like Mourinho but at least his teams don't act like they've been shot everytime someone comes near.
It's really hard to take defeat like in that manner.

Adrian has got us knocked out of two cups inside a week. Having said that ,we should've had the game well won in the 90 minutes. Great goalkeeping by Oblak mixed with poor finishing by us. Strong rumours circulating that the PL will announce tomorrow the remaining games will be paid behind closed doors.

Simeone is a sodding blight on the game, horrible, cynical football.

So basically the season is the same as when Blackburn won the title but they got to do it in front of the fans rather than an empty stadium.

Bad week for the reds.

I was feeling rather down after last night but then you come along and give me the best laugh I have had in ages - thanks.

Anyone who thinks there is ANY similarity between this season and when Blackburn won clearly has no idea about football. Or maybe it is just me who remembers Blackburn spending a shed load of unearned money to win the league on the final day. Liverpool on the other hand have won the Super Cup, World Club Cup and the league pretty much with 4 months to spare with very little nett spend.
