I cracked and watched the first episode of this online, chalk another one up for piracy. iTunes have the series up for pre-order for £12.99 which I thought was OK, but are obviously under embargo until it airs on Five.

The blu ray sets have appeared on Amazon again at the official price. This thread from the Amazon forum suggests the sets now on sale contain fixed season 8 discs:

I've seen a post by one person who has received the replacement discs which says that, unlike the originals, they don't have the BBFC rating printed on them.

I've ordered the set from Amazon so I'll see what I get!

Got my boxset and the series 8 discs have the BBFC rating on them so I'm guessing they're probably the faulty ones.

Well, mines just arrived from Amazon UK - who took it down from their site but as reported recently started selling again.

Just checked my Season 8 discs, and they DO have the BBFC certs on.

Is it published anywhere what is wrong and I can check - I'm of the thinking Amazon would of sent all dodgy stock back the the distributor before putting them back on the site.

The only way to identify the fixed discs is that, on the data side, the serial numbers on the inner disc ring has a little tiny “V2” at the end. Also, it seems to me that the printed artwork on the upper surface of each disc may be a bit lighter than on the defective discs, but that could just be a quirk of printing on my copies.

Well, if that's the case then I don't have the fixed versions.

The fixed copies do have lighter printed disc labels.

Anyone had any problems contacting Fox and getting their replacements? I've finally started on season 8 and it is seriously dark. I've emailed Fox with the details, now just waiting for a reply.

The X Files (TV series)

Bringing this one back from the dead, been looking for something with multiple seasons to watch and thought I’d rewatch the x files using an essential episode list.

I have to say that half way through season 1 and it holds up pretty well, the PQ is very good too.

Edit; watching via Amazon Prime.
