I did find a UK TV thing, but out connection hear is rubbish anyway so I tend to download everything other than the football, which I get from the local ISP. Even Five Live was stuttering earlier it's that bad.

We'll be back in the UK in a few months ( ) so at least I'll get a decent connection then so I'll be able to use streaming services then.

Kodi 16 supports long press of the ok button on the nvidia remote now.

A long press pauses video, and unpauses.

Also a long press gives you extra options on video files.

Really useful!

Ah, hadn't spotted that one, handy, thanks!

I'm still finding I use my old MCE remote more than either the Shield one or the Amazon Stick one, mainly because I could a custom keymap to map button presses for subtitles toggle, subtitles offset and audio offset to single button presses - very useful, especially with some US stuff when they have low mumbly voices and/or strong accents (Bosch, Eugene in Walking Dead, Denise in Master of None for example!) I find most DD/DTS stuff seems to need a +1.75 ms adjustment, so that makes it quicker for that too.

I set a button for bookmarking too, also useful sometimes.

Hmm. It seems Marshmallow has unrooted my Shield TV and knackered the installation (the Shield itself freezing and Kodi a right mess). Had to do a factory restore and reinstall Kodi, etc, but now I need to re-root it. Gah. A job for another day.....

Since doing the MM update - and inserting a fast USB3.0 memory stick (and formatting as internal) - and updating to latest Kodi - Kodi doesn't run well anymore, jerky in menus and video playback.

Anyone else with post-upgrade Kodi issues?

As for obtaining Apk's. Install them on another system and then use App backup & restore for it to generate apk files so long as they aren't paid for so protected.. Titanium Backup does the same. Use the Apk to then install onto another system without using Play Store..

Thanks Q, that's handy to know, I'll give it a go via my old HTC One.

Once installed manually do they still update to newer versions, or do you need to then always update them manually?

You need to update and install manually I believe.. They dont show up in your list of Apps on Playstore but still work fine..I've done it before a few times. Latest being when I set my mum up with an old Galaxy Ace 2 but didn't want to confuse her so left play store unlogged in. I installed her a Big Button Keyboard this way..

So now that ITV Hub and All4 are available for Amazon Tv, what is stopping them from being released for general Android TV, seeing as Amazon uses Android for its OS? Is it Google, the relevant TV co's or the box maker (such as Nvidia)?

The Shield TV is getting Plex Server, in case that's any interest to anyone. Might be useful if you don't have a NAS or PC running Plex Server and want to just hook up a USB drive of videos.

Good price.

The recent update to the OS makes it easy to connect a network folder on another device to the Shield, so it's now easy to access folders on your PC, NAS, etc from your Shield. Useful for getting photos, Kodi addons, etc easily over to the device without having to use an SD card or rooting to use FTP, etc.

Still no ITV Hub or Amazon Prime though.....

I think today may be the last big push for amazon on its fire stick and fire tv before they have to make decision to allow prime onto the shield

I understand they want the control but i think they would be better served just keeping the fire stick, stopping with the fire tv and allowing Amazon prime on the shield

I've just purchased a second for the front room

I really can't understand why Google have been so terrible when it comes to Android TV - it could be the KILLER OS for set top boxes but they just don't seem to care about it.

I know, so frustrating. It's so responsive and BBC iPlayer, Kodi, Plex and Emby all work so well on it, it's just lacking those main UK apps.

A mate wants one now, prices seem to have gone crazy. Have Nvidia stopped making them. Out of stock on the Nvidia website and over £300 on amazon etc.
