A few times I've been struggling then realised I could have easily escaped The sections where you are basically locked in with powerful infected are a bit annoying, but first game had those.

I cleared a massive area with just human enemies yesterday using stealth/distraction, but that had multiple levels, and a lot of water to use, it's those bits where the new controls/equipment work so well

As for story, yes it pales in comparison to part 1 and can't say I like some of the decisions they made about how it plays out but I'm still rooting for Ellie & interested to see where it is going, so they got that right.

Glad this is one place where if you don't like the story, where fanboys start making up the reasons up in their heads "why you ReAlLy hAtE TeH GeAme!!!"

the way (don't read if you have just started the game)

I will get the game when its £10 and second hand but its the first game I will not play for the story. Thats annoying as the first game is one of my favourite all time games. Also I think its true for a lot of people and thats why people are annoyed as its gone a bit GoT season 8 or Last jedi

Early in the game I agree the

but... as the game progresses that does change imo.

Maybe it's just going in with lowered expectations, but I do that with ALL sequels, but that doesn't mean this is a bad game, it isn't at all.

the rabid hatred is no different to those rabidly defending it, if I wanted the same experience again I would go back to TLOU, I suspect a lot of it is simply that this is so women centric, but it is Ellie's story.....

that means something can be never bad

its not hatred for the game (apart from the ones trolling eg 4chan ***** types) the only "hatred" is you can say why you don't like the game with points and they just start screaming insults calling people "bigots" when thats far from the truth. Also I think people were ***** there where lied to from trailer that makes it look like something (happens in films but not games) and the video leaks were true but there were dismissed by ND and the voice actors (troy baker was actually very patronising and the fanboys swallowed every word)

Also its nothing to do with wanting the same experience as the last game at all

Of course games can be bad, this isn't imo, it just isn't as good as the first game, which is what I expected.

I haven't followed the stories around the leaks etc, all a bit tiresome.

I thought Iíd reached the climax of this game, but it turns out Iím only about half-way through.

I think if Iím going to have any complaints at the end of this, itíll be that the game is too long. Iím already starting to feel burnt out from the intensity of it.

All that aside, the gameís execution is the usual Naughty Dog standard. It doesnít really introduce much of anything new, but itís polished to hell, plays well and looks very nice.

Itís a psychological thing I suppose. I like to leave my characters tucked up safe when I leave them (even if I know they will face GREAT PERIL the next day)
Like leaving Lara at a campfire.
I will finish day 2 this morning!

Might actually be nearing the end now

I've really enjoyed it all so far, some great improvements over the first particularly the controls/combat which were a bit clunky in TLOU, this just feels so much better. Being a big fan of stealth games had lots of fun clearing areas, having more options, a little more freedom & more human enemies helps.

Constantly blown away by the visiuals, ND attention to detail is just amazing

Mixed feelings about the story, definitely pales in comparison to the first, but I still liked the different arcs, and having another perspective, even if it is brutal, very grim, a bit too long & very divisive.

edit: the options deserve a mention too, great how you can customise the difficulty.

Even though I have not had to tweak the difficulty in this game I wish all games would provide options to help people to complete them. Obviously all developers want to provide a challenge in their games but not everyone can play at the same level so unless difficulty options are there some won't be able get their money's worth. I'm a fairly experienced gamer but recently I had to give up on the game Control as I couldn't get past one part and there was only one difficulty level and no checkpoints.

Iíve been saying that for years, who does it hurt if I play through the game on very easy and finish it?
I mean very easy here is very forgiving. You cab kill humans right next to their friends and as they are looking ahead itís not in their eyeline so donít see it which is very unrealistic but I am fine with it!

I shall avoid control if itís too hard to finish:-(

Even on very easy and turning all the assists on I still constantly get destroyed by the clickers and runners near the start of the game.

Im assuming it gets a bit easier with better weapons ?

Long melee weapons and shotguns make life much easier with clickers if you get cornered. Or if there are a few clickers I find lobbing a brick into a corner and following up with a molotov once they've all gone to investigate.

If you find clickers hard, just wait until you get to the humans with sniffer dogs.

I’ve turned on invisibility when prone LOL

In all honesty though I find the combat a massive drag.

Oh another zone full of zombies. It doesn’t annoy me as much in Uncharted

Iím playing on the hardest difficulty, because Iím a massive masochist, and itís very tough. I sometimes find that running through the level when a stealth section goes tits up pays off (so long as you donít get shot in the face).

I can't even imagine how frustrating that is. Does it make it easier for you when you fail loads?

In a way, it can be harder. The AI isnít very tightly scripted, so what may have worked on a previous attempt may lead to an insta-death.

Played through the first game twice on this difficulty. It had its spikes, but it was nowhere near as hard overall.
