It's getting to the point where I'm going to damage the TV watching some motorsport broadcasts when I chuck the remote during a hissy fit. Far too much coverage of what's happening in the garage/with family/crowd shots nowadays - this happens in F1, BTCC, FE...

As mentioned above this means you even now miss the start of a race!

Why can't they do picture-in-picture for the non-race footage? At least that way I can even stick a bit of duct tape over that square for the duration of race.

And is it just me or are the FE onscreen graphics far too big? The running order seems to cover about a fifth of the screen!

I agree. I've got a theory they think we want to see an emotional story, but are too stupid to know how to "feel" so they have to show us shots of other people reacting so we know how to react too. Eurosport had a classic a few years ago in WTCC - massive startline shunt, so they cut right in the middle of it to a pitlane shot of one of the team managers looking slack-jawed at a monitor, completely missing most of what happened. I was worried initially they'd had to cut away because there had been a fatality, but actually they just wanted to show us someone reacting to something we couldn't actually see. Maybe the TV directors all used to work on X Factor or some such ****.

I've noticed over the last few years a lot more interviews lead with questions like "How did it make you feel that your teammate crashed into you?" as if the answer is ever going to be "Oh I didn't mind, really." They always go for the emotional side nowadays - just wait and see how hard Sky push the Senna angle with Hamilton if he eventually wins a fourth WDC, it will be unbearable.

I've convinced myself that for some series the pitwall/garage are also watching the TV feed - which you can usually tell as you can see them cringe when they spot themselves on the monitor - meaning they're missing out on the vital track action too.

The times we've gone to a race circuit I'd say we've spent approximately 0% of the experience watching the crowd or trying to see into the pit garage whilst a race is on so there's no reason I'd want access to those images at home.

And yet another thing. Replays should also be presented picture-in-picture so we can carry on watching the live action.

Still not as bad as when ITV covered F1 and every now and then when they returned from an advert break something spectacular had been missed.

To be fair these whines also apply to other televised sport, such as football, so it's not unique to motorsport.

GP2 - apparently the live broadcast started late and had no comms for most of it, they're trying to get together a broadcastable version:

RoC was shown on Eurosport today, and if you missed it like me, it's on again tomorrow (a few times).

Just watched both the repeats...

Enjoyed watching that, and good to see it at the Olympic Park in London. Wonder if any Forum folk were there? It would be a good event to go to.

For anyone watching the Eurosport repeats, there are 2 shows. A 1 hour show (the Friday event) and also a 2 hour show (the Saturday event).

Cheers.

Not surprised in the slightest to be honest, he rarely gels with anyone. Glad to see Conway take his seat as he's a proven street racer in IRL

I completely forgot to mention this here earlier (sorry) but the Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona is being streamed from IMSA.tv. Still a few hours left until the end!

Thanks for the reminder on Formula E, they're so infrequent I forget it's on.

Bathurst 12 hour is also on this weekend, not sure what the times work out as in GMT yet, but the official stream is here:

The next Formula E race on March 12th isn't being shown live on ITV due to a clash with the Snooker, so the organisers have arranged for it to be available via an official stream instead:
