Intense and crazy first race in the BTCC race 1 at Thruxton! Worth a watch on ITV4 +1 in about 35-40 mins.

Had a decent time in Paris at the Formula E race, did anyone else go?

I've uploaded some pics: https://www.flickr.com/photos/r-t-c/...57665523201364

Loďc Duval at the Paris Circuit des Invalides by Timothy Young, on Flickr

Organisation wasn't half as good as London. The actual viewing areas were pretty tiny and there were two completely separate areas, one at the Fan Village, with the podium and the pit entrance road and one at the opposite side of the circuit. To get between them you had to keep going in and out of the circuit and pass through very inconsistent security.

At one point I was told telephoto lenses were not allowed. Walked out and back through the next column and let straight through. Tickets only scanned once, which was good because there were no 'scan outs' when leaving to get to the other section of the track.

The viewing areas were much smaller than they needed to be, there were long areas of the track which were not accessible which could have been used, instead people were crowded several deep at the fence and there were not the large scale grandstands London had. In fact I don't even know how tickets for the few grandstands in the middle were sold, I never saw these going and I purchased one of the first tickets available.

Still, thanks to getting there as it opened (ten minutes after the cars hit the track...) we got good spots for the race and managed to get to the podium for the qualification draw, so got to see the drivers up close too.

I wouldn't recommend the Paris race unless they change the location, or make it a single block of viewing. The London circuit style setting is much better.

Got to love how motor sports is the only field where men and women can compete side-by-side and where disabled drivers and crew can work at the highest level:

Thanks for sharing your pictures R-T-C! I didn't go to the race in person but I did manage to catch it on the TV - I did think at the time there didn't seem to be much consideration for spectators, not least because there seemed to be triple height advertising boards around much of the track.

I'm going to catch the Berlin race on the TV today too. If anyone wants to see it in London, this year might be the time to do so - the provisional calendar has been released for next season and there's no London race at the moment:

Hope for your sake you gave up shortly after that! Apparently it's been rescheduled to around the same time as the F1 (1.15 local time in Texas I read), but nothing in the schedule yet from BT Sport.

I'm about to hit peak media max, if I disappear it's because I've entered the Matrix.

Top right will be show the Indycar race. Top middle F1 from Canada. Bottom right IPad Pro to show the first of the E3 press shows, Bottom right Twitter feed for E3 for the Jim Sterling sarcastic quips. Bottom middle my feed to you....

Do I win the internet now?
