I quite like it... The old one looks dated and overly fancy to me (alongside the new one).

Windows 10 tech preview is great all around IMO - and I've only used it in Parallels on a Macbook.

The new one looks like it was drawn by a 5yr old in a 20yr old copy of Paintbrush.

From the picture I saw on here,it looks like something you would see on a Tomy Toy Computer or Kids Tablet.I'll see when it gets released.Didnt go near W8 when released even at Ł25 so if it carries on like this,I'll take my 'Free' copies and put them in storage until W7 expires.Microsoft did the same with Outlook one year and why Im still using Outlook 2003.

The interface to outlook 2013 is just awful with design changes that just don't make any sense. I sometimes think to myself that i'll be using 2010 with win7 for many years to come if this is the route they're going to take.

I wouldn't be surpised to see some A-B testing going on.

I wish I could try it on my PC but ... virtualbox is refusing to open after I've installed it (saying some sort of network error) and the VMWare software now seems to be 64-bit only

Went all in and installed the latest build. Checking the feedback app thing, I found my feedback is the most trending of all the feedback... I had only installed the first preview on my laptop when it came out. Pretty much wrote that, then wiped the laptop because I wanted to sell anyway.

I hope they take notice. This build is no better. Still a total cluster **** of UI's.

It seems like most of the new style stuff has just had fullscreen=no set in the code to hide the fact that is still in essence Windows 8/8.1.

I've tried to like it but just can't see myself ever upgrading to it.

depends if you are a gamer or not. MS tend to make sure that certain versions of Directx aren't backwardly compatible, so if you want the shiny shiny you're forced to upgrade.

Depends on whether you count 'not hardcore' as you play minesweeper. Or 'not hardcore' as you play 3D games but aren't interested in the latest hardware and custom settings.
If the latter, you *do* want DX12. It's equivalent to getting a zero effort, completely free, hardware upgrade. You don't have to be interested in how it does it - just that it does.

A program just popped up on my desktop PC to reserve Windows 10. Little Windows icon in the system tray.

I've just got the latest build through of Windows 10. It's getting there, but there's been minor annoyances with each build. This is by far the best, as you'd hope.

Not spotted that icon though. Are you on 10 now, or an older version?

I'm on 8.1. Now it looks like I'm going to have a Windows 10 upgrade icon sat in my system tray until 10 comes out.

My desktop appears to have jumped the gun though. Microsoft UK's Windows 10 upgrade FAQ hasn't been uploaded yet! My laptop doesn't have the icon yet.

Anyway, I apparently have a copy reserved now. Just need to get my other copies of Windows installed into VM to reserve some more.

No icon for me yet.

Have they said if you'll get a new CD key when they upgrade us to Windows 10? So if you do a fresh install some day you'll just be able to go straight to Windows 10, or are they going to make it so they'll upgrade your old Windows as a one-off type deal and if you ever need a fresh install you'll need to buy an actual copy of 10?

Did your (Target) PC get sent to you from USA? It's probably set up as if it was in America.

It's called GWX in task manager and seems to have been delivered via Windows Update last month.

It wasn't pre-built. I installed Windows myself and it's configured for UK. It's the UK FAQ it tried and failed to send me to when I clicked the link.

I've tried manually running GWX.exe but it doesn't seem to do anything for me
