This is back with a solid start to season 2 - including flashbacks for Flint's backstory.

This season has been excellent so far - with a bold and unexpected backstory for Captain Flint.

Yeah I thought they handled the twist regarding his true motivations beautifully. Unsurprisingly it hasn't gone down well with a lot of idiots out there though, they claim it has ruined the character for good!

Much like The Blacklist I think Black Sails has definitely upped its game in s2, the silly love triangle thing between Rackham, Bonney & Max continues to be amusing and Flint's entre arc has been really good. I'm hoping they kill Charles Vane off sooner rather than later though because I can't understand half of what Zach McGowan says! He seems to just grunt through his nose rather than enunciate anything!

Yeah, S2 definitely has been much improved over S1. Feels more focused & the acting all round has got better. The "twist" to Flint's flashbacks was a proper WTF?!? moment but it made sense rather than done for shock purposes.

Superb finale to a brilliant second season.

Overall this was huge improvement over the first season IMO. The storylines were much more interesting.

Season three is currently being filmed &

Utterly fantastic, they must have blew the budget (Get the pun?) on the last 10mins. It's looked incredible, TV really is the new Movies

Brilliant season - a huge step up from season 1. Toby Stephens has real presence in the role.

I've watched 3 episodes of this and already find it a struggle to continue... and I watch a lot of shows (Vikings, Game of Thrones, Dexter, Breaking Bad, etc.) Does this get better? I know only 3 episodes in but I find it a bit boring!

I say stick with it. The wife and I gave up after four episodes but I went back and finished the season. I'm very glad I did as I'm hooked! I just have the season two finale to watch.

I have to agree with everyone else and say that season two is so much better than the first. The back story for flint has been brilliant.

It had a very patchy start and even then s1 didn't exactly improve by leaps & bounds until the last couple of eps (although it did improve). S2 however has been compelling TV and more than worth sticking with it for imo!

Just noticed this starts on History in the UK next month (14th July), after the Sons of Liberty run finishes.
