Scottish Football Season 2013/14

The on going soap opera at ibrox has started early again , dumped out of league cup, board room squabbles , and manager Mcoist having a slagging match with the returning Charles Green. .

Elsewhere Hearts starting with 15 points deduction but can they survive much longer. Liquidation may be favourite. Hibs boss Fenlon is on borrowed time also.

All in all could be an interesting season.

Technically since it's been an on going, it's not started early. Strange tactics again from McCoist, since last week we had a good performance and only needed to switch out 2 players yet he seems to decide to shuffle half the team and again play people out of position. McCulloch still getting a game even though he isn't a defender. As for Green, didn't think it would be long before he popped back up again and he is right that we should be aiming for a cup, although it would need to be the Ramsden cup as we aren't at a level yet to compete with SP sides.

Can see more worries for Hearts this year, amazing how favourably they have been treated despite numerous lot's of wages not being paid on time and winding up orders.

Hibs were pretty much carried by Griffiths last season and haven't replaced him. European result was an absolute shocker.

Motherwell got rid of the player of the year so won't be as good.

St Johnstone started well but won't have the legs for a season long challenge but fantastic results in Europe so far.

Despite Celtic getting rid of Hooper and Wanyamma, they should still win the league comfortably although last season wasn't the walk in the park that they expected but that is probably due to there being no real challenger and players not having to put in the same effort when there was a strong Rangers team to push them.

And I'm sure I've said it for the past few years, but the league winners should be the first match of the new season. What is the deal with starting the league on a Friday night - mental!

Personally, I don't think it will be that interesting a season (on the pitch anyway). Think there will be more financial trouble for a few SP clubs, Celtic to win the league and a cup and Rangers to win their league.

It's going to be their year though, well until a few games into the season! Actually, haven't heard any Liverpool fans claiming that this year which is a first I think.

Fantastic night , Place was absolutley rocking when the 3rd goal went in. At least 3 more high profile games to look forward to. Good achievment considering the top players Celtic have lost . Hopefully they will be able to entice a couple of high calibre players now the have qualified.

Barcelona, AC Milan and Ajax.

Did well to get through after selling off arguably your best 2 players and had several scares last night but that mob were pretty terrible but I think Celtic underestimated them too much on the first leg and gave themselves a kick up the arse for the return leg.

You never know, you need a bit of luck in the groups. The other 3 will be thinking about wins against Celtic however defending like last season and frustrating them and hitting on the break could see a few good results again.

I do think you need a striker similar to Hooper who will bag goals for you. I don't think Stokes will ever be the answer in europe.

Terry Butcher still undecided about Hibs, but it should make an interesting game between the 2 sides at the weekend.

Bad week for Celtic in the press following a number of arrests by their fans in Holland, I'm sure it was just people dressed up in celtic shirts though and not actual fans ;-)

This isn't a loaded question, and there is no agenda (e.g. I'm not taking the ****).

Are Rangers in trouble again? There's loads in the papers/ websites about running out of money, bridging loans and pay cuts. Reports are saying despite taking in 22m in investment, they've lost 14m or so. Considering how easily they've walked league 1, they have obviously developed a squad they didn't need (yet).

The Ł1.5 million loan is possibly to fund another administration event so that Rangers can reduce their week to week outgoings (e.g. Cancel highly paid player contracts which is the main drain on their finances with no pay off fees incurred). The question is, when that loan is being provided by the main shareholders what is it all being guaranteed on? More shares?

Dave King is waiting in the wings to invest but doesn't seem to be allowed to do so. I'd be interested to know how much of the 22m the various board members have stripped off in wages/bonuses/payoffs.

Wouldn't make sense to cancel contracts for high earners, decent fee's could be brought in for some in a few months time.

Will be interesting to see what 'plan' Dave King comes up with over the next few weeks when he heads over again. He has certainly thrown a grenade into the mix now with regards to having an impact on future ST sales. Especially with all the main fans groups backing him. A risky game to play though.

Was willing to give Graham Wallace a chance with his '120 days', but now details of this property secured loan have emerged, I can no longer believe anything the man says. Jack Irvine still on the pay roll? Somers half arsed statements? Sick of the lot of them. Never ending circus...

Anyway. St Johnston and Aberdeen both through to Scottish Cup semi final. I'll go for Dundee Utd to join them tomorrow, and if the Rangers players turn up for the occasion, then Albion Rovers should not be a problem at Ibrox tomorrow.

Win against Airdrie on Wednesday and that's the league wrapped up after Dunfermline dropped points again today.

Quoted from the first post at the start of the season - anyone agree that it has been interesting or is Scottish football just dying a slow and painful death?

Rangers have been very mixed this year, occasionally brilliant and sometimes dire (last week was one of the dullest games I've seen). Celtic have strolled the league but underperformed in both domestic cups again.

Hearts will be meeting Rangers next season in the championship along with possibly Dunfermline if they win the playoff spot. Aberdeen favourites for a cup double but will their cup hoodoo come back again?

Last seasons bunch of players were worse, however a shockingly bad performance with tactics simply to lump the ball towards the ineffective Daly all afternoon till he went off. Crosses were all far to close to their keeper and too many hopeful shots from outside the park, especially from Aird and Templeton who could both still be on the park now and not hit one of them on target.

Would have been a shame if we had nicked a winner as Rovers certainly deserve to still be in the cup.
