Game Of Thrones Season 2 [SPOILERS]

Perhaps a new thread is required for this so folks who haven't caught up yet don't uncover huge spoilers (eg characters getting beheaded!).

Proper trailer for Season 2, looks epic and awesome:

The date is cryptically hidden at the end of the trailer.

UK date is just 1 day after the US date, 2nd April on Sky Atlantic. This is my most anticipated show of the year, no contest. The trailer shows a new character whom I was very interested in seeing on screen
but doesn't seem to show another one who should make an impact

I was actually twitching with excitement watching that. So I've got to have Sky or live in the US to see this? Balls! Couldn't someone more likeable than RM own Sky?

......

Can't look at the video at work... I thought the start date might be pertinent information for the thread.

Varys refers to three men at the beginning of that clip - a king, a priest and a rich man. But surely the priest is

Saw the trailer for this last night during Spartacus, I have a couple of questions...

BTW, I haven't seen the first season (no Sky Atlantic) but am reading the first book at the moment...

1) Is there any way on Virgin Media I can watch this? Will they get Sky Atlantic soon, or will the first season be repeated elsewhere, e.g. Sky One?

2) Did the first season cover the whole of the first book? If so, surely the second season shouldn't be called 'Game of Thrones'?

The first season is out to buy soon so you can rent or buy it.

They decided to just call it Game Of Thrones to avoid confusion.

1) Exclusive to Sky Atlantic as far as I know. The blu-ray/DVD is out at the beginning of March.

2) The first season covered the first book and a tiny bit of the start of the second book. 'Game of Thrones' works as a title for the series overall, and while it would be pretty cool they can't realistically rename the show every season because people would get confused. Additionally, it looks like the books will now not fit neatly into a complete season in the future.

Thanks guys, I guess they will just stick with 'Game of Thrones' now as it's been such a hit, and maybe it's a cooler title than 'A Song of Ice and Fire'?

Am hoping that Vrigin and Sky can agree a deal on Atlantic. The Blu-Ray is WAY too expensive when it first comes out, although surely it will hit Ł17.99 sometime? ..then it will be a definite purchase.

I remember reading somewhere that they thought some of the books would actually make 2 seasons as they were so long, or obviously more episodes per season, which would be my choice.

I've never read the books btw.

They (the producers/writers) have mentioned that the third book ('A Storm of Swords') would need to be spread over two seasons, and the fourth and fifth books ('A Feast for Crows', 'A Dance with Dragons') would be merged over two or three seasons as they occur simultaneously.

10 episodes a season is the number they seem stuck with.

I think it's perfectly set up for the third season to be the first part of book 3, just as the books themselves are split in this country (Snow and Steel/Blood and Gold), as each half of book 3 can easily fit into a season.

Then just mash up books 4 and 5 into the following 3 seasons after that (seasons 5, 6 and 7) and re-organise the events into chronological order.

Then I'm guessing, depending on the size of the unreleased final two books, another 3 seasons to cover that, bringing the end date for the show to around June 2020 with TEN seasons!!!

Be surprised if it lasts that long tbh but I do think from the evidence so far that the adaptations are far superior to the source material. I've read the first three books and they badly need a stronger editor to go in and cull them.
