Looks like they are trying something different with Red Dwarf. Last few new series are not a patch on the originals, but still looking forward to this.

90 minute special, nice as long as they don't end up in coronation Street again please.

Huge fan of Red Dwarf so am really looking forward to this, going to avoid potential spoilers (beyond what I've already come across elsewhere) as much as possible. Being a bit paranoid about that now so I only loaded that latest video long enough to see the date - 9th April.

There have been some classic episodes in the last few series so I'm pretty hopeful about this special, and will be interesting to see the documentaries too if they're new content (as opposed to what's been on the DVDs etc before.)

I won’t post it here but they’ve put the first 5 minutes up on the Dave YouTube channel

Interesting because my SciFi Now came through yesterday, 4 star review and they say:

"There's a tone deaf extended joke in the opening five minutes that's going to offend and bore more audience members than it amuses. If you can get past that single bum note though, what follows it is one of the best outings for the small red one in years"

Absolutely loved Red Dwarf growing up but I haven’t watched it past season 8. Is it worth catching up before watching this movie?

Just watching last nights episode. When will they realise the show is at its best when it’s kept small and simple. The original premise of a sit com in space which could be filmed in the bbc canteen. There is no need for all these extra characters and attempted grand scale.

Last nights highlighted this when is was just the four of them in starbug and the return of Hol. Genuinely laughed out loud during that

It was pretty awful from start to finish. One or two moments of decent humour (return of Holly) and that was it. The rest was worse than dire.

I thought it was excellent.

Interesting series of tweets here about the art/set design:

Thoroughly enjoyed that. Patchy in places, sure (the catflap gag was probably hilarious on the page), & the visual effects varied from topnotch to 1980s BBC levels from scene to scene, but it hit all my nostalgia buttons & kept a smile on my face throughout.

& for all the recent talk about old Data in Picard, how about fat Kryten? Surprised they didn't make any gags about it.

I almost turned it off at the start as soon as I saw the Cat people ships in that formation.

I wish I had.

Dreadful

I didn't recall laughing that much but I did enjoy the story, pretty good overall and well worth a watch.

Elements from the core crew had some of the old magic, but I really struggled with the cat folk and wider story.
