I enjoyed the latest M-Corp one.. A fairly simple idea, and just the 4 of them on the whole.

Yeah the manipulation twist was great! That's a proper red dwarf moment as opposed to a lot of second rate stuff (the other one I liked this year was cat being a psychopath).

I thought that final episode was pretty good.

Agreed - I meant to post as much last night.

It felt 'classic Dwarf' with the limited cast and a light-hearted take on some science-y nonsense.

The last 7 series were worth it for the rat scene alone.

Enjoyed the last couple of episodes, agree with others that they felt like classic Red Dwarf. Overall a good series, though I'll pretend episode 3 never existed.

Wrong thread Wooglie? That's a Stranger Things 2 spoiler above in case anyone watches that (I don't, so it's not a worry.)

So I just rewatched the series. Whilst overall it was pretty good, I was a bit surprised how much they'd simply rehashed stuff from earlier series, the talkie toaster thing or an entire plot.

Very patchy series, but still entertaining enough to keep me watching. The last episode had some great stuff in there. Shame they spent two thirds of the episode setting up the mcguffin & only the last third actually playing with it.

Question about the last episode:

There was definitely a lot of stuff that was rehashed from earlier episodes. To be fair, I don't think that they tried to hide that; case in point: Holly telling Rimmer that everybody was alive, getting increasingly exasperated and ending with "Gordon Bennett" was almost an exact replay of "Everybody's dead, Dave" from Series 1.

A decent series overall, with the rat segment in the last episode being very funny. Still think that episode 1 was far and away the best of the series and holds its own against some of the classic episodes from S3-S5 (albeit with the realisation that a lot of the ideas were nicked form those series - Waxworld etc.)

Wasn't that the whole point? It's an alternative timeline. That is Rimmer's version of the scene as in that universe he survives and everyone else is dead.

Basically the whole event was just a huge nostalgia trip bringing back old character's. Loved it!

Sorry didn't find the rat that funny, for me it was just a rehash of dog, so the same idea done again but not as well. And after a prissy Lister was waiting for a slobbish Rimmer to appear in that dimension, but then it soon became apparent that you don't see the alternate Rimmers, our Rimmer just standing in for them.

Been re-watching this. The show really does take a huge nose dive in quality after season 6, season 7 still manages some great moments but season 8 is awful from start to finish.

I enjoyed the latest series though, I mean it's not 1-6 quality but it had enough to make it enjoyable at least.

Only just noticed this so apologies if it's already been mentioned, but looks like all of classic Red Dwarf is getting remastered for a blu-ray release. Can't find all that much info on it, though.

I saw this the other day but like you suggest bugger all info out there. Are they getting HD transfers or is it all the episodes just dumped on a Blu-ray?

According to Doug Naylor, they are working on noise reduction, upscaling of the resolution, and an overall cleanup. Will be 4:3 for 1-VIII.

I'm sure they'll look lovely, but will wait for a price drop cos I'm a cheapskate, and this will be the fourth time I've bought them.

BTE and onwards are already available in Bluray.

Original broadcast versions please!
When they re-did the sfx a few years back, they cut out some of the jokes, which was really annoying.
