Last one was painfully bad unfortunately.

I assume they've already filmed Series 12, so won't be able to respond to feedback

Agreed, was pretty poor. The noises were horrendous, and the jokes weren't much better.

i enjoyed it as an alien/thing mash up, and always nice to see the polymorph back again! And it does count! Although must admit Craig Charle's face when his brain is empty is OTT and not very realistic.

Final ep was awful. Best part of this new series was the title credit sequence, that opening theme still makes me smile every time.

I thought the last ep was better than the 2 before it

The bit with the scalpel was funny!

At this point I'm expecting to find out that the whole series has been the crew suffering another Despair Squid hallucination...

Glad that's over, the last episode actually had some funny moments, but there's just something wrong with the way the show is made. Every episode felt rushed, they are trying to fit too much into the run time.

Although, I do think that the bigger problem is that they have run out of material/ideas, it feels like there's a Red Dwarf manual they follow, rather than writing from the heart.

I hope if there's a next series it's the last, with a series long story arc and an endgame.

I often rewatch Red Dwarf on DVD or Netflix. They've definitely run out of good ideas. Trying to be story driven, rather than comedy driven. It seems they come up an idea and stick in a few one liners, still enjoyable to watch.

Take early episodes (which they weren't fans of apparently) - Queeg, the Quagaars episode, Two Rimmers, etc.

Watched the original Kryten episode last night, they think they're going to meet other people, they've been dead for millenia and find a deranged robot looking after them.

That's only the very basic premise of the episode, but it's funny.

Meeting Jesus, going back in time and stopping some people trying to prevent technology, not funny. So stick in some jokes about a pool table.

The Two Rimmers episode from S1, they've rehashed it numerous times now. Rimmerworld, arguably the Ace Rimmer stuff. Now it's "more Rimmers is funnier, lets get them to sing."

Look on the bright side, it's still better than series 8 (which I've just hit after re-watching from the beginning).

I still think that that was funny because it was the type of thing that Rimmer, or at least his mind, would do.

Enjoyed the series - not a patch on 1-6, but way better than everything that came after and that is a comeback of sorts.

I rewatched series 8 trying to get some explanation as to how they've ended up in the current situation.

I thought they lost Red Dwarf again at the end of VIII? I recall them mentioning Kochanski died.

And I can't remember where the meteor in the side of the model came from, just think it doesn't look as cool.

Hasn't that always been there?

It's been years since I watched the earlier stuff so maybe I'm forgetting something, but the main thing that bugged me about this series was they seem to have dropped the 'apart from Lister, the human race has been dead for millions of years'. If that's still the case, why do they care about ranks & following orders? Rimmer's always been like that, but the rest of them?

Also, quite a few times the writers clearly forgot that Rimmer is a (hard light) hologram & not a human being. i.e How would brain surgery work on him?

Exactly, the guy is invincible. Also how did the DNA copier work on him?
