Robot was cheap, agreed... However isn't that part of the joke when they mistook it for a leading edge tech medibot, despite it looking like something from the 50s

Cheap effects is part of the charm isn't it? Really less of a fan of the cutting edge CGI, it made them lazy with their gags, even in this series, if you've got the budget for a large supporting cast they use it. I liked it that Camille was a large rubber suit with someone's hand for the eye socket and their VR set was made with bike helmets.

3rd ep was better but still a far cry from the quality of the first few series.

Still, a step in the right direction at least, here's hoping it improves even further.

I actually liked that scene a lot, having read all the books and remembering series 1, it was using the back story they established with the evolved cat species worshipping 'Cloister' (????) and their general misinterpretation of everything.

So far, episode 1 I felt was a weak start and English actors doing poor American accents has never sat well with this show, either get actors who are American or those who can actually do the accent. Simulants again, time travel again, they even acknowledged the lack of originality within the show.

Thought episode 2 was great, very funny... 'can't store hand luggage in my nostrils' was a great line.

Episode 3, better than episode 1, but felt rushed. Captain B*** was the best line. I liked the interaction with the lift, reminded me of Talky Toaster ("Ahh, so you're a waffle man!! ") . More time travel though, and they messed that up

Certainly better than the last couple of series, needs Holly.

Whereas I wasn't impressed by the lift interaction as it had been done before and better by the hitch-hikers guide. Liked the bribing aspect though

Just watched episode 4 (via On Demand), and it had me laughing out loud to myself! A complete Rimmer indulgence episode!

Very pleased with the new series so far...

Personally I thought that episode 4 was by far the worst of the series. And yet more re-cycled/re-hashed ideas.

I guess it is still a spoiler discussing it as its not aired? Safety first:

Give Kevin's post above I guess its going to be a marmite episode!

Very disappointing after what was a pretty good episode 3..

Agree, episode 3 is still way ahead for me. I kind of liked episode 4 except...

Just caught up on 3 and 4, liked both, thought 4 had a weaker story but was funnier overall. The ending was a bit of a let down, it's like they ran out of money for the effects shot

All the espisodes just seem to "stop" suddenly before the credits and seems to be more noticeable / blunt as progress

Is there a reason they went with this ? Is it down to the runtime being cut for adverts ?
Any chance that when hits DVD an ending to each episode will be there to make them the full 30 minutes

Maybe they want to cash in on extended editions not for TV or something, I bought the last series on DVD but not sure why, they repeat them endlessly on Dave, so maybe for that

Couple of good lines in ep 4 but otherwise pretty terrible once again.

This is turning out to be the new definition of guilty pleasure for me, kinda like the first season of Torchwood, it's awful but I must watch.

Dave cut the old BBC episodes quite mercilessly sometimes, and it's not even for watershed reasons - they seem to do it to reduce the running time. (They probably have daytime broadcast versions too with the adult jokes removed though.) Thought I was going mad when I swore I remembered a scene that definitely wasn't in the episode I was watching!

It's not just them, check out The Simpsons, they cut out anything remotely risque on C4.

Well this one (Cassandra, series 8) still had a joke about cunnilingus! They'd just cut the episode for running time:

Other than the very first 3D printer joke it was a poor episode.

Episode 3 was easily the best so far with some very good lines.

I thought Episode 4 was very good. The 3-D printer gag was excellent and I thought that they got a good few related gags for 10 minutes or so. ("Nice pipework )

The barbershop quartet was pretty good as well.

There is an element of regurgigating old material here. Yes, it felt like a riff on Rimmerworld, but it's best to compare it to the tripe we had to put up with through Series 7-10 than the classic episodes. In the 4 episodes so far, it's more than justified it's return.

The barbershop quartet was painful. I actually had to FFWD through it because it was so bad.

I wish I had watched the whole episode on fast forward. This is awful television. I'm a massive Red Dwarf fan, I watched them from the start, and this doesn't even come close. It's like watching a cartoon version now. What's wrong with Chris Barrie's face? He just spends the entire episode pulling a silly face! It's mental, he used to rely on good comedy acting. There's nothing good about this at all.

This is the only episode I watched and that was by mistake, I won't bother watching the others. The last series was terrible too.
