streaming to a tv

1st time I have ventured into this forum! I have query having seen the LAN-equipped Regza on the bargain forums.

If I have a tv in a spare bedroom, is it possible to stream live sky via skyplayer from my laptop to it (as well as videos/iplayer etc.) using a dongle or is It not that simple? I know an xbox would do the trick but I'd prefer to keep the tv as free of equipment (and hopefully wires) as possible. I do have cat 5 running into the room, would that come in use at all?

TIA
Danimal
