Seems to be a slew of "literary" fiction titles down to 1.99. I got

Helen - MacDonald H is for Hawk - recently won a prize
Ian McEwan - the Children Act

Michael Faber - The Book of Strange New Things

'Alan Cumming - Not My Father's Son' was on my wish list around the £7 mark and has dropped to £1.99. Seems to get cracking reviews Affiliated Link

H for Hawk I got when it was cheap a while back and read the first few chapters last night. It's gorgeously written.

The Book of Strange New Things I haven't read, but there was a very good radio adaptation a while back which was excellent. Intelligent sci-fi.

Anyone else having issues getting it downloaded onto any of their devices? Trying on various android phones (all using kindle app) as well as Kindle app on iPad... Just get "tap to retry"...

This is supposed to be excellent. Currently £1.99 and rated 4.8/5 (136 reviews)

Not My Father's Son: A Family Memoir - Alan Cumming

Quote:
Metro: "Compelling . . . a frank, twisting book . . . a page-turner"

Sunday Times: "Powerful . . . the result is both heart-breaking and brave . . . A thoroughly gripping read"

Stephen Fry: "What a shattering, compelling and extraordinary story Alan Cumming has to tell. And he does so with such style and grace . . . Beautifully and cunningly structured, Not My Father's Son is one of the most memorable, heart-stopping autobiographies I have ever read".
EDIT - whoops - just seen it posted above

Same - can't download it on a Kindle app (iPad). I checked the "Available on these devices" link, just in case it was restricted, but that said it was OK for iPad.

No luck with my iPad app either. I feel cartoons look rubbish on traditional Kindles (have a Paperwhite) so have deleted it. I see there is one complaint in the reviews about being unable to download but the reviewer still gave it 3 stars !

Is there any way to log a complaint with Amazon that the download is faulty ?

Steven Erikson - Gardens of the Moon 1.99

First in the ten book Malazan sequence by Erikson. I read about 5 or 6 of these epic page turners before I got bored of his stubborn resistance to give me reminders and clues about how what was happening fit with what had happened 3000 pages earlier, but if you've got the time, they're like a more sprawling, epic and bizarre. Game of Thrones.
