[MULTI] Fifa '10 & Fifa: World Cup: South Africa

Looks like the first wave of EA's promotion will be starting on June 5th >> http://fifa.easports.com/enGB/home.action

Still playing the guts out of the current version though haven't bothered at all with the Ultimate team add on. Anything people would like/hope to see in the next installment?

I'm finding it difficult to think of anything they could really add to the game. Although, remember a previous Madden where you could play in first person view, something like that for Be A Pro would have me sold.

- Training mode (this is a big one. how are you supposed to get good at free kicks?)

- On-line co-op

- Long-range shooting - make this *possible*. Afterall, it does happen in real life.

- A real port of this on the PC

Online co-op is a realistic possibility for FIFA 10. Madden 10 is getting online co-op and as yet to be revealed additional online features. Perhaps the main focus for all EA Sports games this year will be in online play.

Some proper looking night games would be nice - last 2 have had night games powered by 2 50w light bulbs

I think there is still some sluggishness to get out of the engine as well but they are definitely getting there.

Gameplay wise I think '09 will be difficult to improve upon however I'd like to see the ultimate team included but with some major improvements, notably - sort out the servers so its actually playable most of the time and better online matching so you don't constantly get put against a team with all 99 skill players.

1:Proper replays which show all the goals scored including the build up!
2:Sort taking free kicks out-it seems like its all down to luck at the moment.

Better matching would be good, but i imagine it would be fairly difficult to implement perfectly, as the main reason you always get matched against 95+ ranked teams is that there are a lot of them out there Something that struck me the other day is that a more nuanced contracts system would be better - if a player performs really well for you, then increasing his contract should become more expensive, and vice versa for poor performers.

John's point about night games is a good one, although they've already made massive strides on that front - i still remember the demo with Wembley (07 or 08?) where it almost unplayable due to this.

My own personal bugbear is player behaviour when the ball is in the air - player movement is unrealistic compared to other times, and the complete inability of the switching system to cope (manual switching aside) is mysterious and infuriating.

Long-ball playing is also pretty difficult in 09 - ie if you play a long ball to Torres and a weak defender is battling for the ball, if you hold down B (short pass) to pressure for (and win) the ball, he will end up also passing it into space and giving the ball away.

I wish there was a separate pressure/win-ball button for this purpose.

The first-touch control could do without tweaking as well.

As has been said before though, its pretty damn good as it is regardless of these issues.

A host of gameplay tweaks (that could surely have been delivered via some sort of DLC) and a more fleshed out manager mode. Yippee

A new hands-on, albeit with pretty limited details.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/fifa-10-july-hands-on

I kind of hope the custom set pieces are not included in online play - you can't help feeling that it won't take long for people to work out how to create undefendable set ups.

No mention of beefing up Be A Pro mode either, especially given the focus on improving the Manager Mode. Personally i now prefer BAP, and would rather that got more attention, with a longer career structure.

I would like a BAP mode where CPUTeams also transfers players, I got Charlton to the Prem but then got stuffed quite a bit when playing teams like United as the players in my Charlton team didnt cut it against Ronaldo.....

The improved manager mode is welcome by me as this was my favorite mode in 09. The refined directional movement for the players could have a big impact on the game.

Other stuff I hope they sort out:

Shooting from long range needs to be workable. I only scored a handful of long range efforts in the last one and I've no idea how I really did them.
Night games and better weather conditions. I'm sick of playing games in the middle of the season in bright, sunny conditions.

Other than that there is a great deal to improve as 09 was a cracking effort.

I've said it before, but the 2 massive things for me:

- Practice mode! Free kick in the arena are NOT the same as in-game. .
- (as above) shooting from range! And I don't even mean miles away, just world-class strikers should be getting it on-target from outside the box, at least sometimes.

If they sort those 2 things, it'll be awesome.

My biggest bugbears:

A succesful sliding tackles often results in the tackled player still keeping the ball.
Keepers ofen save shots that arent anywhere near going in.
Offsides are always correct even if its a few mm's. Have some small element of the linesman getting it wrong to keep people on their toes.
Long range shooting is hit and miss (no pun intended) with no way to improve success.
The amount of times the ball hits the post/crossbar is so far above real life it gets a bit ridiculous. Its like the frame of the goal is a foot wide or something.

Improve the commentary, it was better in the original FIFA International Soccer game. Sick of hearing the same cliche for the tenth time in the same match.
