Had a couple of failed recordings since getting the upgrade - Dexter S3 and 24 (eek!). Annoying.

It's also recording far too much - Reggie Perrin (30 mins) was recorded at nearly 60 mins. Odd. This morning, I couldn't wind back BBC news as it said something else was on (the programme planner hadn't move on from the middle of the night).

Hmm.

From SKYHD on twitter:

As many of you will have noticed, the remaining Thomson boxes got the update this week. Next up should be Pace boxes, apparently...

I had placed an order to upgrade to HD two weeks ago - got an email off them yesterday advising it was a 3 month wait in my area. My Father-in-law ordered HD as a new sky customer 3 weeks ago when he bought a new HD telly - Sky phoned him up the same day the order was placed in the shop and offered to install HD two days later. As his TV was being delivered the following week - they agreed to install it the day after! I've pointed out to Sky that I'm being penalised as an existing customer having to wait 3 months so that they can take on new customers - surely it should be on a first come first served basis regardless of the order type - bit naive of me admittedly but really annoying.

I've advised that if it's three months then the order should best be placed where the sun don't shine and perhaps they would like to rethink my install date. I'm really not that bothered about getting it - it was an impulse thing as I have lots of HD content available through my Media player - so not really got anything to loose just yet.

My gf said that our box has recently failed to record episodes The Hills and Brothers & Sisters.

Man - this new upgrade just keeps getting better and better!!! It appears to have a built in anti-CRAP recorder!

Just got the letter about the replacement PACE boxes.....getting mine done next Friday. Don't really care, but the free HD subscription for 3 months is a nice bonus.

Has anyone had a problem in that they turn the HD box off (with new EPG) and when its turned on the following day or later on we get a "no signal received" message on all channels - needing the power to be pulled out from the back to fix - anyone else seen this?

I had that today on my Samsung box, but I haven't got the upgrade.

Well, I'm not impressed with the new EPG at all. Far too many 'back-up' presses required for my liking.

Also, since I've changed the settings to tell it I only have one input, instead of understanding this, it won't change channels on its own, to record what is in the planner. So every recording fails if the box is not already sat on the channel that the programme I want to record happens to be on. - Might as well go back to letting it think I have 2 inputs and just have one of them permanently recording on the failed input - at least that used to work.

And why on earth, if, after watching a programme for 10-15 mins and then deciding that I want to record it, if I press record at this point it will only record from the point I pushed record and not from the start of the programme that should be in the buffer - I mean TiVo could do this 10 YEARS AGO! Honestly, the functionality of Sky+ is shocking.

I have no confidence in the system to record everything I want at all - everyday I have to check and triple check that the recordings are still in there and that the season passes are in order.

eh? Sky+ has recorded the whole programme, including buffer, for years now?

That's assuming you haven't turned the rewind buffer off of course...

I think a lot of your problems are due to a single input - Sky+ was never designed to work with just 1 LNB and the new EPG features for it are just cludges..

I won't pretend it's the most reliable system in the world, but having had Sky+ since launch and Sky HD since about 6 months after launch I've never seen a recording or series link "disappear" - I've seen plenty of recordings fail and box crashes though...

Oh, and so far I'm not that fond of the new EPG either...

I've had failed recordings, series links disappearing, box crashes, static buildup on the LNB...still wouldn't be without it.

Sick of watching the preview video now, I just want the new EPG (Samsung SkyHD user).
