Bluray players, still a mess.

http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/format-wa...ray-320077.php

Which profile, what player? What content? Its all a bit of a mess still.

People with 1.0 profile players may end up with unplayable 1.1 disks (which dont exist yet), 1.1 players seem like a decent bet for content, 2.0 seems like a marketing mans retail dream rather than an in home movie experience.

Love the fact that HD DVD can do PiP already which is the defining spec of profile 1.1 (and not implimented yet) and that HD dvd's network port is helping (dual format) bluray players update firmware...

I highly doubt 1.1 discs will be unplayabale on 1.0 players. However, I agree the spec if still unfinished. Although it is debatable that BD's specification is more advanced in the long run than HD-DVD.

Blu-ray is getting there, its just taking a little longer.

PS3 is Blu Ray

I would never by a stand alone player...

But did have the confidence to buy a HD-DVD stand alone player...

PS3 is definately the best option.

Sony have even confirmed it will support 1.1 Discs with an update.

Excellent, reasoned article for a change. Send it to Bill Hunt.

And yes, the only choice for this format right this second is PS3

Hope you're right cos I've just ordered one to use with my Panasonic 50 PX 70

Now then, which Hd-DVD player do I go for ?

hehe, trust me it is. The internet connectability sees to that, unlike the connectionless 1.0 standard players.
