can i use me omega ext hd as a media player throu usb port on dvix player

i have a yamada divx player with a usb port on the front and i was trying to set up a 500gb omega hd as a media player but it wouldn't read all the files on there, especially films. I've seen eleswhere that i need to format the drive, i'll have to google how to do that!! so should i format to fat 32? but i've heard something about NTFS, would that be better if i plan to use the external hardrive for a media centre.

thanks

Plug it into a PC, in my computer click on the drive & look at the info box that pops up on the left, or right click on the drive & its listed in properties.

Tho my guess from your first post, that it "wouldn't read all the files", means it would read some, if it reads some its probably fat32 as NTFS wouldn't read anything at all.
