An Unearthly Child and The Chase are William Harnell stories not Troughton and The Chase didn't introduce the Daleks, that was the second Who story The Daleks in the episode The Dead Planet.

Correct on the mix up of Troughton and Hartnell. I was too young to watch the first episodes with William Hartnell so I was going by the info on the UK Drama site re the intro of the Daleks.

The descriptions on the site seem to be fairly accurate (though some of the photos are from different stories, but that's just nip-picking).

A pretty good selection - The Deadly Assassin is a must-see (particularly since it's one of the best stories not to have a DVD release yet).

Damn it, you can't series link through Sky.com and you can only queue up 10 recordings a day... Still got all the Saturday epsiodes queued, will have to sort the rest out at home.

I can only remember Doctor Who from McCoy onwards and have been looking out for older Who for a while. Is there any channel that runs doctor who epsiode by epsiode?

Not at the mo. UK Gold used to (sort of) but they lost their contract when the new show started, so all we get now is repeats of that.

Worth noting that the stories they're showing in full from the original series are listing on Sky as "Omnibus". I'm assuming this means that they'll be showing the hideously deformed "movie editions" that UK Gold used to run on weekends (having shown the episodic version in the week).

This means that the episodes are editted to form one long story, which is shorn of opening and closing titles and cliffhangers.

Oh, and they still jam the adverts into the same place that they used in the true episodic showings - normally at some ill-chosen point like in the middle of some dialogue. Rather than using the obvious break-points available where the "episode" ends.

OK as a taster, but no substitute for seeing the stories as originally intended.

Of course, I stand ready to be corrected when Uk Drama show the complete episodes with adverts between them. Oops there goes that flight of migrating pigs again....

Also, for some strange reason, the majority of the ones they are showing are already out on DVD. And the real rarities like The Chase, which being black and white hasn't been repeated to death on Uk Gold, they are only showing two episodes out of six - one of them twice!

In all fairness, The Chase is more than a bit rubbish. It even features a dippy simpleton of a Dalek. That said, the last episode with the Mechanoids isn't bad, plus you get to see Ian and Barbara's exit from the show and their return to London.

Apparently, there is going to be at least one episode containing every doctor who has played the role throughout the years, so this does sound all rather exciting.
Might have to Sky Plus a few of the episodes I think,Maybe from the Tom Baker Era especially

They also ran a vote for the best Doctor of all time - David Tennant won by a country mile.

There's no justice in this world.

Yes I think he's finally cracked the 'best Doctor since Tom Baker' angle of the role. Not without his faults, but the last time any actor was as universally popular was when Tom Baker was playing the part.

Dunno - never before shed a tear at Who, but I'm ashamed to admit I did tonight when they showed Rose saying goodbye again. Tennant's got to be doing something right.
