Love it love it LOVE IT. Very atmospheric. The "Winter Is Coming" tagline was always the best choice, too.

The Wire's Aiden Gillen (he played Carcetti) is cast as Littlefinger!

Nice

He hadn't come to mind as an option, but he will be pretty good in the role I reckon.

No, he's meant to be more runt than lardarse.

I've as good as given up on the books being finished in my lifetime, but damn this TV show looks fine.

Oh my, Jerome Flynn has been cast as Bronn. That's... inventive. I can't picture him as anything but a pop singer that my mum used to love. I was too young to be interested in Solider Soldier when it was on, was he actually a decent actor?

GRRM has a press release from HBO with loads of cast members named (possibly some new ones, but with a cast this big it's hard to tell... I'm pretty sure I hadn't seen The Mountain cast already).

just finished the first book - if the tv show is even half as good then it's going to be brilliant

I really can't wait

More casting news: Charles Dance as Lord Tywin Lannister. Great stuff.

Sky has bought the rights to all HBO tv shows and upcoming new series and that includes Games of Thrones. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/broadcas...hbo-shows.html

So the BBC's co-funding of this counts for nothing? Or is that not happening?

Probably just means that BBC will get the first terrestrial showing after Sky show it.

I didn't think BBC were funding any of it?

The BBC's participation didn't happen in the end.

GRRM appeared at a convention recently where he answered questions about the TV series. One thing he mentioned was that he has revealed secrets about the story in the upcoming books in the series to the show's creators to help inform their writing. Awesome.
