Question The Outer Limits

I think i used to watch this when i was younger, was it a different episode each time with something random happens?

Is it up there for quality of the x-files, worth a purchase on dvd as think they have been re-released on dvd. How many seasons are there is it only worth getting the first second or what?

Cheers for any info

There is 2 season 49 episodes in total of the 60's. Can't help you if it worth to buy. I prefer the 90's version and wished Sony/MGM bring them out season by season instead of the best of.

I assume you mean the 90s 'New' Outer Limits rather than the original 60s series ?

I really enjoy the series, even if there is some clunkers every so often I'm sometimes left with my mouth open at some of the downbeat endings.

There's a few releases now, the US has some 'themed' best of collections, whereas Canada has a best of seasons 1 and 2 boxset and a season 3 box. The audio/video quality isn't top notch on the Canadian release, but it's not too bad.

More info available here.

Plenty of dicscussion on the Season boxsets in these threads :

I never saw the 60s version but quite liked the updated one. It was a decent alternative to The X-Files where you just wanted a rounded-up story without any of the long drawn out faff of The X-Files (which is why I liked the first couple of seasons of TXF).

Some, well most, of the episodes are extremely cheesey and horrendously acted, but are all generally entertaining.

Yes Jez I think it is (says "Like the classic 1960s series of the same name," in the Synopsis)

I loved the Outer Limits in the respect that at the end it always had a philosophical thought about challenges we as a human race might encounter in the future (like eternal life etc) and the way it made the viewer reconsider those options should they be in that situation just drove my brain into overdrive ... then I feel asleep thinking about it.

I've heard that the canadian boxsets are syndicated edited versions (no T&A). Can anyone confirm?

The 90s boxsets are released by a canadian company. Not available in the States.

Any idea if they will ever release the show in full season boxsets? Looking at TV.com there is seven seasons in total.

I'd love to collect this show on DVD but can't stand 'best of' DVD's.

Is "The Conversion" on one of the best-ofs? Only that was the best ep of the New Outer Limits hands-down I reckon.
