Millions, the new Danny Boyle film - Opinions?

Went to see this at a preview screening last Wednesday where Banny Boyle did a Q and A session afterwards.

The film was pretty good on a whole but IMO not on par with Trainspotting or 28 days later. Definately an improvement on the Beach :duh:

Daisy Donovan really stood out to me as one of the best characters and James Nesbitt put in a decent performance too. Personally i wasn't impressed by Alexander Nathan Etel who played the main role but then again he is young and had no acting experience before so you cant slate him too much.

Would definately recommend this as a family night out film but for most i think waiting for the DVD might be sufficient as it wasn't spectacular.

P.S. In the Q and A session after the film Danny Boyle confirmed that the sequels "28 weeks later" is in the pipe line and "Porno" is being considered as long as the can get the original Trainspotting cast to pick up their roles again.

I object to the trailer for this imperatively telling me that Danny Boyle is a "visionary".

Really? How so.

'Cos he made Trainspotting 9 years ago?

He's good, but he's not that good. Besides, how can 'A Life Less Ordinary' fall into that catagory?

The trailer for Millions does look kind of good.

In that case it won't happen then.

I thought Millions was good - very touching, and quite unique.

A Life Less Ordinary r0x0rz too.

Just looked at it. It was 12A Boyle for sure. I am a big fan of his work, from Transpotting onwards (I even liked the first hour or so of The Beach...) but I thought Millions was a tad laboured.

It has some fun ideas in it, certainly in the first half, as the kids have adventures with the money. But the second half is weak. I know the film is a mere hour and a half - but it's still over-long, and Daisy Donovan's rampant mugging and over-acting annoyed the heck out of me. I'm more of a 28 Days Later chap, I am afraid.

Last trip to the cinema the trailer made me want to gouge my eyes out with the pointy edge of one of the doritos I was eating so I won't be rushing to see this.

The poster outside the cinema also made me laugh "A DANNY BOYLE FILM YOU CAN TAKE YOUR KIDS TO SEE!!!!!1111", I wasn't aware that there was huge market demand for that.

Well, the film will make you feel even worse. The small child in it is so annoying - awful performance.

Avoid at all costs!!!

To be fair though. The kid had never acted before in his life. He was just picked out from one of the local schools, in the same manner the lad from The Full Monty was.
