I assume this is Juanfran, their 19 yr old who got some games last year but was kept out by Figo.

I can't see us taking Figo, doesn't quite fit the bill for 'pool or Rafa. However, there has been mention of Juanfran. Now he sounds promising...

Well he appears to have been in tonights Madrid starting lineup tonight, which means he is cuptied for Europe so I suspect that this is a non-starter.Morientes is on the bench, hopefully he wont come on.
Interestingly,Juanfran is nowhere to be seen.......

Morientes just been brought on. So cup tied. As is Figo.

In fact Moreientes (Goal 72mins) is the only reason thier winning

Apparently he's scored and it's currently 1-0.

If Owen goes to Real, he's going to find it hard getting on the pitch with Raul, Ronaldo and Moriente's in the same squad. I can't see Morientes going the other way now.

I think Real are just laughing in our faces now - we've deliberately kept Owen out of their team for their benefit it seems yet the only player we could swap with Real goes and plays for them tonight ruling him out of the CL

At least Xabi Alonso has apparently 'signed' for us for £10.5m according to Spanish press!!!

I personally don't think real want him. Well they may like him, as i'm sure a few clubs do, but he isn't a transfer target of thiers at this time.

He would struggle at the moment to get in, if Morientes struggles. I would like to add I think Morientes is one of the best, if not best, forward in the world. Also that the way Real treat him is unreal.

We'd better hope Real want him cos otherwise there will be no takers for Owen now and no new contract which is just a total disaster!

owen can sign for anyone for free in 5 months,we'll be lucky to get 6 million for him let alone 10 million + a player.the liverpool board are a shambles for letting this happen again.did they learn nothing from the mcmanaman fiasco?

While they are hardly faultless in the matter,I blame the player more than the board to be honest-he has CONSTANTLY said that there is no rush,he will sign,he wont do a Bosman etc etc,and why would we have any reason to disbelieve him.
Michael has provided us with some marvellous memories, but if he doesnt sign and we cant sell him I would have no qualms freezing him out, making him train with the kids and reserves and dont pick him all season no matter what the situation the team is in.Its about time that someone stood up to these players, and in this case in particular after 15 months of lies enough is enough.

Fantastic news if that's the case

d80s0q.

P.S Let's just get another Mid, maybe a Defender and sort out the Owen thing......Morientes wouldn't be so bad even if he is cup-tied

Believe me, there is plenty for Toon fans to talk about - we've turned into a soap opera this summer. However, I didn't want to be seen as a troll and it seems that free speech and voicing an opinion is verboten in this thread, so I'll leave you lot to your musings. In most other threads, opposing fans are usually not attacked for opining...

Oh, and as for some of the reasoned, cogent and eloquent responses I received - well done.
