Mourinho isn't the God everyone makes him out to be...

Sure he talks a good game, but would any of you leave Gallas on the bench for Carvalho?

I'd probably rate Gallas as good as, if not better than Terry!

I agree about Mourinho - he's been lucky to get wins so far, Chelsea haven't really looked like title contenders yet but they have got the results which is the difference at the moment.

Yes. It's not a matter of how good they are individually, it's about how well they work as a partnership and whether or not they have the attributes to compliment each other. Personally I think Carvalho is the best defender of the three and I agree that Gallas is better than Terry but I think Terry's leadership and his physical and areial strength make him the better partner for Carvalho.

Who can blame him? He is ONE of, if not THE BEST MIDFIELDER IN THE WORLD. Garcia was bragging in the paper about how many goals he will score for Liverpool, he better come good cause I was under the impression he isn't an out and out striker.

the end of the season will be make or break with us and gerrard.he will have 2 years left on his contract and surely our dozy board won't let a contract run down a 3rd time.he will be offered a new deal,if he doesn't take it bye bye and thanks stevie.if we are showing serious signs of competing at the top i'm sure he'll stay but to be honest i'm not optimistic.if he does go i hope it's abroad.

I agree with Salty, and this is why 50% of the people on here were making a fuss last week about all the issues we were concerned with (signings, tactical decisions, player performance, results etc.). We have to be top 3 AT THE LEAST this season or we have failed and it will cost us dearly (Stevie G).

So if we don't make top 3 then, should we sack Rafa then cos we've obviously failed? If that is Gerrard's attitude as well, then sell him in January IMO

AFAIK ... Gerrard signed a four year extension about 2/3 months ago - so why will he only have 2 years left come May ??

he did sign a 4 year deal last november but in reality he had 2 years left on his existing deal already so really he only signed for an extra 18 months.he basically got an improved contract for the remainder of the existing contract + 18 months.his deal runs out summer 2007.next summer will be stay or go believe me.i wouldn't even rule january out if he's not happy.but i'm sure we'll have improved by then.

Gerrard can't carry a club year after year. His performances last season kept us alive.

I really don't see your point John regarding league position. Wouldn't you say that we should at least knock Man Utd out of third and claim that for ourselves? I would be happy to give Raf 4-5 years to win the league, it is probably the toughest league in the world to win with Arsenal on current form, but some immediate progress is needed.

Surely everyone accepts that we are going for 3rd and if we end up fourth then our season has been barely acceptable . 5th and as far as I'm concerned we've had a bad season.

thats CRAP Gerrard got us into 4th last season and I would not blame him for going if don't finish top 3 this season. The bloke is probably sick of carrying the team. At the moment he is one of the top midfielders in the world and he probably wants some decent medals on his shelf to back that up.

If we finish third this season (and a close third not 25 points behind the champions) then it will be a good season but I expect LFC to be up there going for the title every season. We should not have to accept 3rd but I realise it's going to take time for the new manager and players to get their feet.

As a Liverpool supporter I have heard every excuse and reasons for our failures and I am sick of it. We are and should be a top 3 team every season. 3rd should be our benchmark not a goal. And I reckon Gerrard feels the same he has been there long enough and heard the same excuses. No one can say he has not given everything for Liverpool, I hope he never leaves but if we finish this season the same as last I would not blame him.

A tap in from one yard out with no defenders about.

Those are the sort of goals that we need - strikers in the right place at the right time, ready to pounce

Does anyone here think Dudek was at fault for England's second goal yesterday?
