Its poor management by Liverpool, happened with McManaman, happened to Spurs with Campbell, should have sold him last summer - its what Man Utd had to do with Beckham. What are his excuses for not signing? At least Gerrard came out and said Liverpool lacked ambition (Under Houllier).

Am surprised that Barcelona are not interested, also would not be surprised if it was a ploy from Real to encourage Arsenal to take a lower fee for PV.

To be honest it would not surprise me if Chelsea, Man U or Arsenal (maybe all 3!) put in a £10m bid for him.

As much as you would not want to sell him to these 3 if the Real deal dose not come off I think you will lose him for either £5m in January or nothing nest year.

Eto'o went to Barcelona for £18M !! This is getting messy now, Morientes is not going to come to Liverpool now and has publically said he wants to stay with Real and fight for his place.

This is going to turn bad with Owen walking out on a free. He said for months he would never do this to the club that made his name and now he is kicking sand in the face of all liverpool fans.

Liverpool should have signed Kezman when they had the chance, that boy is going to be top scorer at the end of the season.

Liverpool should go for Tevez - he is top scorer in my Liverpool team on CM 03/04

Le Tallec is top scorer in mine but anyway...

Kezman would have been a fantastic buy, but at the time we were still appointing Beni and we appear not to have much money. Enough now to buy Alonso (I hope) and then whatever we get if Owen goes. So it aint easy...

I think if we keep all our current strikers, we definitely don't have any problems upfront so Kezman might of been purchasing overkill.

Interesting thing from that BBC story:

Quote:
Owen, who has 10 months left to run on his contract at Anfield, trained with Liverpool's reserves on Wednesday and speculation about his future escalated after he was left on the bench in Europe.
Trained with the reserves...?

Blimey, it's becomimg obvious that Liverpool won't stand for it. I was expecting Owen to start on Saturday, as it wouldn't affect his transfer.

Rafa is obviously planning on the future, and Owen isn't part of it.

Tickets for the second leg of the Graz game go on sale today.

Liverpool v Grazer AK
UEFA Champions League 3rd Round Qualifier 2nd Leg
Tuesday 24 August 2004
Kick off - 20:10

Might not be fantastic, but should be an excebition of football fromour team. Tickets are £17, but it will also give you priority for other games later in the tournament, the more mouth watering ones.

The ticket line number is 0870 220 0034.

Well to be fair, Rafa said that he picked his best line-up for the game against Graz. I'm not disagreeing with the man's logic. His strikers were two young players, one was the top scorer at the European Championships and the other the top scorer in the French league last year. What's Owen done much recently apart from making the board sweat?

Yes it was ... but these days you bid for individual legs as opposed to the whole tie.

Besides ITV2 announced they were showing our game during last night's Man U commentary

You just don't mess with Rafa - if Michael can't get to Real, he better be ready to do some grovelling as otherwise he'll be playing a LOT of reserve team fixtures till he buggers off

Just reading as well on Sky Sports website that some of the cash owed by Sociedad for Westerveld is being written off on the Alonso deal so that is another £1.5m odd saved

But Owen then still gets to earn stacks on the bench/reserves and leaves on a bosman for yet more wages somewhere else next summer.

If he's not going to play he may as well go somewhere else. loan him to a scottish club I say!

Hi guys

"Michael Owen is expected to become a Real Madrid player in the next 48 hours - but the switch is likely to be a cash-only deal"

Just saw this article on the Liverpool site http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/mediawatch...40812-1304.htm

If this is the case do we really need to find another striker to replace him?

£10mil sounds like a good deal considering they could wait a season and have him for free.

Would have got stacks more start of last season but he dragged negotiations on too long.
