Another well known free package is GIMP and there is a Photoshop style front end available for it from http://www.gimpshop.net/.

I haven't used either of these myself but I've heard good reports.

Unlocker is another that I use...Small, light and very very handy:

No more "file in use by another user or process" nonsense!

YzDock is still available from some places, if no longer supported. I haven't used it myself but I've heard good things about RK Launcher.

Cheers - d/l'd Crap Cleaner and will install tonight.

BTW, are there any other 'essential' freeware programs I should stick on my PC? - I know there's another thread with them, but I didn't want to browse through 1000's of posts!

In case we ever accidentally delete files and want to recover them - this information was supplied on another thread which I think should be retained in this useful applications thread for ease of finding if anyone wants this in future:

FREEUNDELETE

Thanks for this, a guy at work wants to check the spec of his laptop and this fits the bill perfectly.

Anyone know of a Firefox Extension that will act as a spell checker, preferably one that will highlight incorrectly spelt words?

It already does this. What version of Firefox are you using?
