Question Noise Cancelling Headphones Performance

I've been thinking about getting some noise cancelling headphone for use while on the Tube/Train etc.

I see that most don't cancel noise over 1khz but I'm wondering if that is good enough. Most of the noise on the tube is clattering over points and screeching of rails/brakes which I would have assumed would be over 1khz.

Can anyone confirm either way if they cancel such noises ?
