Japanese Blu-rays any better quality-wise than UK/US Blu-rays?

I'd never really thought about it before, but I noticed on another thread that someone here has Trainspotting which appears to be region-free and was just curious (as I don't own any Japanese Blu-rays) if the Japanese releases are better quality in general than their US/UK counterparts like their DVDs usually are....?
