Subwoofer placement

I am basing a home cinema system based around the Sony HT ZF9 soundbar plus optional rear speakers got the master bedroom. The subwoofer is front ported and at present I aim to place it on a slot with 50 mm or more breathing space all around and the front surface open and unobstructed. But as there are walls around 3 sides, will this affect its functionality?
