Powerline adaptors advice required (sagemcom)

Looks like I have the first post in this new forum, so let's see if this works!

I bought a sagemcom F@st plug 501P duo in 2015, and it works brilliantly never had a problem with it. Although I do have one question I have read that powerline adaptors don't like surge protection, so now nothing is surge protected, which is annoying, or is it just on the router end?

Now I've just changed from Virgin broadband to BT and unlike the helpful Virgin installer BT wouldn't install in a room of my choice but the room the phoneline is in. Which now means I need a third powerline adaptor to get the signal from it to my PC. Although it looks like sagemcom don't make this product anymore, just want to know how easy the compatability would be to get a third powerline adaptor and add it to the network, I know its possible because the manual talks about it. Does it have to be the same make, what wording do I have to watch for to make sure a single powerline adaptor would fit in ok with my network?
