Mad Love - Is it 'How i met your Mother' Part II/Friends Part III?

Yes, yes it is. It's an almost exact copy in nearly every way.

But I liked it. Laughed a few times. Plus it gets bonus points for Sarah Chalke.

Surely this should be titled "Is it Friends part III"?

I did consider going back to the HIMYM source in my thread title... but it's identical to HIMYM. Makes more sense this way.

I dunno, but Jason Biggs has definitely nicked Ted's hair...

"Is it How I met your mother part II" would be more consistant for the LULZ. (Even though HIMYM isn't finished)

Oh yes. I'll do that. I thought that was referring to it being the second thread for HIMYM..

Wow. You really weren't kidding, were you? I just watched it and it's definitely trying to copy HIMYM.

I'm assuming CBS are trying to find a replacement for HIMYM. I'm sure Jason Segel said he wasn't going to renew his contract after the 7th season next year, and I can't see it continuing without him.

It's definitely following the same blueprint, even starting right off the bat with a retrospective voiceover!

I actually thought the first episode was ok, though they'll need to get some decent supporting characters in to flesh it out a bit. HIMYM has got Barney who carries the show at times so it'll be a tough act to follow. Whilst I actually like Ted / Josh Radnor, I thought Jason Biggs in this was the weakest one of the four.

Not bad, but highly unoriginal.

Love Sarah Chalke & love Judy Greer, but there's very little chemistry between them & the guys.

& I really don't buy the pie****** & Sock as lawyers.

This should have been called 'generic Romantic Comedy #2934'.

Not as catchy I suppose.

Watchable and the wife loves it because unlike Mad Men and Boardwalk Empire, 'she doesn't have to think' while watching.

Anyone else still watching this, or just me? I actually quite like it, it's just innocuous fun. I guess it helps that I like each of the actors, if any of them were annoying it'd probably be an instant turn-off.

I'm still watching but innocuous really is the best word to describe it. The Judy Greer/Tyler Labine dynamic is far more interesting than the Jason Biggs/Sarah Chalke one.

Yep, I'm still watching but if it got cancelled I can't see that I'd cry about it. It's not going anywhere really, they need to up their game.

It's completely backwards, but these sitcoms are made by committee till the show gets an audience, then whoever came up with it originally will get more of a leash to do what they were trying to do in the first place.
