Just trying to install kodi on a new firestick.

Been a while since I did my other one, is it only firestarter that you install with the abd prog and that puts kodi on there aswell or is there a kodi spk file to put on?

Taking ages.

Should take a few seconds max. Try the alternative method I posted... More reliable.

Cheers for that. I had seen that way in youtube tutorials but it was always US versions. Could never see it on the catergories like they could.

Didn't think about getting it in the appstore first.

Yes ive done that a few times.
i wouldnt install any apps from the app store as they will dissappear once you de-register.But its fine for Kodi and Firestater as your side loading them.

Nope. Seems fine here.

Does it happen every time?

Do you have any apps which interfere at the system level, I guess similar to what Firestarter does?

No one else here suffers from jerky or stuttering pictures on the Fire do they? I've had this issue since I first got the device, which I guess was nearly 18 months ago now.

It happens whether I am using Amazon or BBC iPlayer. I was trying different settings (Auto and 1080/50hz), though last night I found that I could not change the picture output back to Auto as 'my tv does not support that setting'.

Maybe I just need a new tv?

I had for some reason a really jerky picture when trying to watch Ripper Street and some other stuff, this was doing my head in,after a bit of searching the thing I found to fix it was to turn motion plus off on my Samsung TV.

I'm trying to install Firestarter but when I go to ES File Explorer on the amazon.co.uk webstore, I get the error message

We are sorry

You are not eligible to purchase this app due to geographical restrictions.

It's my UK account, amazon.co.uk, with a UK Fire TV (generation 1) box. Has anyone else had this issue??

EDIT: OK, FOr some reason my Fire TV device was set to USA (?) so I've changed it to UK and it's ok now.

Problem 2: I've installed ES File Explorer, downloaded Firestarter but whenever I click on the open folder button, it keeps downloading Firestarter and I have 4 copies now, with no idea on how to actually open the file. Moving across on the remote control doesn't want to select the file, only the bar at the top or the bar at the bottom...

Any help much appreciated!!

In Step 3 of the guide Rusty posted just make sure to choose 'Open File' at the right point. Then actually installing the APK required me moving with the arrow keys to the top of the File ES app screen, then moving right and then down. It's quite fiddly (a mouse would be a big help but I don't have anything handy for that).

I've just this minute installed it as my Llama/Flixster combo stopped working (I think the Flixster app needs updating as the FireTV was saying it was not up to standards or something, it gave a 'launch anyway' option but that just launched Flixster rather than Kodi as normal).

I still couldn't get it to work.

Used abdfire on the wife's laptop in the end to install it. I'm just using Home button on the Fire remote to access the AFTV home screen, and double-click for Kodi.

Good stuff!

Can anyone with an Amazon Fire Stick confirm that you can access Hulu?

AFTV stick specifically, or just AFTV?

I have the box and can't access Hulu.

I like the latest update to the Fire Tv, that pops the apps, including Kodi, etc into the app menu now, makes it a bit nicer and easier for my family. Shame that don't appear in recently used, but it's better than it was. I didn't really want to use firestarter, as they like the way the menus are, etc.

You can set it so you never see Firestarter, but still get the benefits of using a double-tap of the Home button to launch something. That's what I've done. The box boots to the normal Amazon menu, and pressing the Home button does exactly what you'd expect. Double-tap the Home button launches Kodi.

Thanks guys. It might be a similar to the Apple TV and you have to change the region to US although according to Hulu it seems it's only available on the main Amazon TV unit.
