Given number 1 is an utter classic piece of science fiction I think you should just keep watching that one.

Everything after that just diluted the idea.

Yep, I know what you mean, but for me it's just so horribly dated now.

I loved it on VHS and watched it a few times in the 80's. But when I last saw it on a borrowed dvd in about 2002 I didn't enjoy it at all.

And I still love many 80s things - depeche mode, stranger things, etc.

I had thought that 6 established that only 1 & 2 are canon (given Sarah is dead from leukemia in 3)? The viewing order for the canon films would be 1, 2, 6.

6 pretty much puts 3,4,5 out to pasture but also take the whole premise of 1 and 2 and flushes it down the loo

You want an adventure watch 1 and 2 and the alternate ending for 2 forget the rest

1 could use an update in the effects dept the end squence with the limping endo skeleton and the bit where arnie carves out his eye is very dated but the rest is fine.

I watched this last night.
Just terrible.
The fact they dump over the originals within the first five minutes just annoyed me.
This bombed so hopefully we won't have to suffer any more of this crap.

I did a double-take on the intro - I thought the de-aging they did on Sarah was incredible so was wondering at first if it was unused footage from something else.

The opening was amazing, I was totally blown away by the de-ageing CGI and I was really enjoying the plot. However, I wasn't buying the cargo plane fight, something felt really off, and by the time they got to the dam, I was actually bored of all the action.

It's certainly better than Genisys anyway.

Genesys with different actors could have been better.

The de-aging was good but still the whole plot was simply trash the first two -JC is worthless all hail the new girl who will save us; but can barely hold a gun or act.

The idea that a modified human can travel thru time why not put a weapon inside a carcass and send that back along with someone to use it. No other terminator film has done that ye.

This series needs to go back to basics and star afresh

1 bad terminator 1 good human (could be female this time) to save a man. Bit of body horror for the terminator

Basic not a massive budget tightly paced a few spaced apart realistic set pieces for cars flying out of planes onto dams

IIRC this was in one of the first Terminator story lines from Dark Horse. A T-800 stuffs a future weapon (handgun size) into the belly of fat human and uses him to transport the weapon through to their destination time.

No, this series needs to die a thousand deaths. James Cameron made two Terminator films and the story played out. Every single effort to resurrect the franchise since then has resulted in absolute dross perpetuating the medium of film and TV. Enough is enough, they need to take off a nuke it from orbit.

I disagree the Sarah Connor Chronicles was a good sequel in my book.

Also dont' agree with the film dismissing all the previous continuity, I believe you should build on and not destroy what went before. Star Trek at least did it right when it wanted to change things by creating a different universe!

This - it showed you can do new and interesting stories with the franchise. But for the films they recycle old ideas or get it wrong with Salvation. It was a good idea to do the future war but they did it so badly and it was toothless. (iirc they wanted a lower rating for the younger audience)

Sarah Connor Chronicles was absolutely god awful. Probably the entire franchise’s lowest point.

Worse than salvation and genesis and dark fate surely you jest.

Different model terminators

The Australian woman from bsg razor was a weak point as was Shirley manson.

Main problem for me with all the movies is the idea that the future is not set and there is no fate but what we make for ourselves. That fact that JC's life depends on skynet being created and waging a war is something that MUST happen.

That it happens anyway under a different name legion without him makes JC quite pointless as a saviour as is any subsequent replacement.

At least TSCC tried something different by jumping into the future with JC and no one knowing who he was as his absence from the timeline had an affect.

Christ, it's miles worse than all three. At least the films have some form of budget so there's smashy-smashy-boom-boom nonsense to at least distract from the awfulness of the writing.

I'll say one thing about Dark Fate: The action is well directed.

The tv show had a typical tv budget for a fox show

Its far better than any of the films after 2. there were actions scenes that were a mess in dark fate. Each to their own

I never said the TV show was low budget. Unless Netflix and HBO are spunking silly money on something flashy then all TV shows have modest budgets compared to blockbusters.
