Just checked out the trailer and that looks very interesting.

Just been browsing through All4 and it really has come a long way. Lots of great stuff on there. Even has Seinfeld!

Has anyone been watching Space Force on Netflix? From the write up I was expecting a Brooklyn 99 type comedy. OK, it's less funny than B99 but there's something in there which keeps me watching. So far I've been enjoying the episodes, seen 6 so far.

Really enjoying Space Force. It seems like they , or at least Greg Daniels, are really perfecting the craft of creating sitcoms with deep characters(for a sitcom) and heart. Usually it takes a couple of seasons (P&R, B99, Office etc), but they've already managed it within 5 or 6 episodes. Good stuff

I wonder if netflix will do special deals like now tv does? its not like the old days when netflix was the only major service. I cancelled my netflix again and they are just sending emails every week to come back for full price

I’ve watched the first five & enjoying it so far, despite the low number of big laughs. The subject matter & good cast is keeping me entertained. I was worried that the real thing was too absurd to make a comedy show out of it but then I watched ep2 which was Mental & went beyond the kind of crazy we get from Trump.... I think?!?

Damn! Had high hopes for this but was very underwhelmed. It had an interesting atmosphere/feel, some impressive camerawork & decent acting, but ultimately lacked any substance & just when things got intriguing in the last five minutes, it abruptly ends...

Does anyone know when Netflix streaming quality will return to normal? HD is still looking a bit rough.

Prime seems to be good andDisney Plus at 1080p is good also.

I don't think anyone knows nor have they said anything.

Disney+ is supposedly only running in 1440p and it's definitely not sending out an Atmos signal even though it still marks various films as offering that.

I think the whole bandwidth limiting thing was first just a bit of a PR stunt by the streaming services to claim they were supporting the pandemic response but also a little bit of opportunism on their part, knowing that everyone being at home streaming would hit them they mitigated that by dropping their bandwidth.

We watched a horror film a couple of days and the picture quality was shocking. Huge artifacts most of the time and the dark scenes were so murky it was hard to even work out what was happening. It said it was 1080p but it looked less than HD. Yet yesterday we watched some of Money Heist season 3 and the picture was great.

Both Netflix and Disney are still being flagged as Dolby Vision on my TV.

I'm no expert but this suggests that just because something is in Dolby Vision it doesn't mean it's 4K.

My TV is recognising Disney+ stuff as Dolby Vision and it looked great. But the listing also said it would be in Atmos as well and it definitely didn't pass that to my AVR.

Disney are definitely doing some funny stuff behind the scenes still.

I haven't noticed any deterioration in pq on Netflix. Amazon has always been hit and miss for me - new content is generally fine, but starting an older film (by which I mean, very loosely, 10-15 years old or more) is russian roulette. I recently had to turn off 2003's Down With Love because the pq looked like VHS.

I watched 21 Bridges back in April (I think that was prime) and that looked terrible. Haven't noticed anything else.

I think it’s more to do with the source encode rather than the stream. They like to get old transfers of movies. Not sure why, perhaps they are cheaper. For example The Longest Day an old movie streams in HD but it’s blatantly an SD upscale while there is a true HD Blu-ray available. Might be for the better in this case, since the BD is a DNR mess!

I was watching The Expanse 4K with HDR the other day and it looked glorious. It marked the stream as UHD and I didn’t spot any artefacts, so looks like Amazon have lifted off the brakes.

Amazon had some issues recently with nVidia Shield devices where they released an update that wouldn't let those devices receive UHD for copy protection reasons. It was fixed a few weeks ago but lasted for a few months. Always nice to see paying customers penalised in the attempt to stop revenue loss.

FWIW we watched 21 Bridges at the weekend and it looked fine.

You're right that DV doesn't necessarily mean 4K. But is it really that easy for them to separate the bitrate and reduce it for all DV streams? I've no idea but wouldn't have thought so as the DV info is encoded into the video.

I've no idea either but what is interesting is that unlike Netflix when I press the source info button for my LG TV Disney+ doesn't display anything.

From the reading around I've done it seems like D+'s performance is fairly variable. On an LG OLED like mine it's brilliant (Thor Ragnarok looked awesome) but on my older 4K Samsung for about 3 weeks the native app didn't even work and then when it did it wouldn't give 4K.

My guess is the pandemic worked for and against D+. It probably got them loads more subscribers than expected, which was great for the money but probably not for their servers coping with it.

I can recommend Zombeavers (2014) on Netflix for some light hearted B-movie fun.
