Yeah, Warner Bros is reportedly stumping up anything between $20-$30m to Snyder so he can finish up the post production work.

It will air sometime next year on HBO Max. The only undecided factor is the format, either something like a 4 hour cut or a series of smaller episodes.

They made a complete mess of Justice League by trying to get Whedon to come in and finish it. His style is so completely at odds with Snyder's the end result could only have been a complete mess. That said I don't have high hopes for Snyder's cut either given that personally I don't really like any film he has made since Dawn of the Dead. My issue with him is that I find his films generally look stunning but they are just so incredibly tedious and lacking in any nuance whatsoever.
I would, however, love to be pleasantly surprised as it would be good to see a great film with all of those characters.

the DCU films and Justice league was a mess from the start, I don't think the fabled synder cut will save the film, despite what some fans think. The story is crap, so what you want about the MCU films, call them safe, popcorn fodder etc but at least there is something good in most of them.

The villain is terrible with poor motivation even for comic book film. and I don't think this new cut will fix that

Have to disagree BVS extended was a far better film than some of the latter marvel movies which have fell into the cookie cutter method of film making.

Joss whedon was the wrong choice avengers is ok Ultron was a bit better but his style is totally not Snyder's and it showed.

Hope it gets a Blu-ray release but i'm not surprised this is coming the continued hype for it along with the small budget to add effects; it's already made its money back on its first release this will be pure profit and its product that keeps the hype for WW 1984 alive.

Plus we will get to see the black superman suit and his tache

Never realised there was so much love for Zack Snyder! My first thought was "ooh, an extra 90 minutes, that's what that film needed" and my sarcasm detector exploded.

The latter marvel films were the better ones, they improved greatly after the early (tedious) origin stories. Civil War, Thor: Ragnarok, GOTG2.. then the final two Avengers films.. all fantastic.

Whedon's is value is in his dialogue, that's why he was brought in. He's a script doctor by trade (Toy Story, X-Men, Speed, Twister) and his lines and manner of humour can be clearly picked out of the 'JL murk' by anyone with an ear for his stuff. Post Suicide Squad success (and Snyder's personal tragedy) he was brought in to inject fun into it. Nothing to do with the look of the film. Given his work on Avengers, he's a very obvious choice.

They also hired James Gunn to reboot Suicide Squad.. they desperately want to follow the MCU.

I'm really looking forward to WW1984. Looks like a lot of fun. .. That will come out a year before this Snyder cut does...

You wouldn't believe how rabid and huge his fanbase is. They think every film he's made since moving to the DC universe (because they're mostly comicbook film fanboys rather than Snyder fanboys per say) is an undeniuable masterpiece made my a visionary able to explore the human condition more insightfully than Ingmar Bergman. Just go over to Bluray.com and click on any thread for any DC film and see how long it takes to descend into a discussion of how brilliant Batman Vs Superman was and you'll see.

So, if they are destroying their copies.... does mean they think it sucks now?

In response to the Snyder Cut, David Ayer is now calling for Warners to let him release his original cut of Suicide Squad...

Sorry but who designs a comedy action film to be 3.5 hours long? Are they just trying to squeeze a few quid out of the film? I can't see that additional time is what it needed, Ghostbusters problems were more fundamental than that.

A filmmaker obsessed with improv. I said on another forum over a week ago when the Feig 3.5hr cut was first floated out there that it's probably gonna be 1hr's worth of plot and 2.5hrs of extremely hit and miss improv.

Extra 2hrs of Melissa McCarthy falling over or throwing up.

Joss whedon did more than dialogue for JL the look of the whole movie is nothing like BVS, also the music was the wrong choice.

Going back to whedon's first Avengers why did he shoot it in 1.85:1 makes it all look like made for TV no depth. Ultron was shot 2.39:1 and looks more cinematic.

Snyder also shot Justice League in 16:9 for some reason that always puzzled me. Given that the “definitive version” is being made for TV now, that seems fairly apt.

IMAX... IMAX scenes are 1:85:1 when projected elsewhere.

All of Justice League is framed for IMAX.

Same for Avengers... Circa 2012, Avengers Assemble was framed for 3D (conversion job) and IMAX.

I actually started Justice League on Netflix last night and watched the whole thing.... not actually so bad lol. Think it helps that Caville and Gadot are great. Batfleck, Cyborg and Flash not so much....
