We've played our first 2 games of Teotihuacan and it's a really impressive game. While it's not really suitable for anyone just starting out with board games if you have a basic grasp of worker placement games then I wouldn't let the weight put you off.

While both games have ended with a few rule errors along the way it's been nothing major and it's been more a case of forgetting to do things like moving up one of the temple tracks when getting a technology. I think i'll print out one of the handy reference sheets from BGG rather than use the manual every time their is an eclipse or ascension.

Next game we'll try it with random tiles rather than using the pre printed ones on the board but for now we'll keep the action areas where they are. The quality of the components is fine although the wood resource tokens are a little fiddly and could be a bit more like those in Nusfjord. Also it would have been nice to have a resin tile for the pyramid but this would have course bumped up any production costs.

Played 7 Wonders Duel with the wife a few times this week. Cracking game.
Just got the science victory on last reveal otherwise she'd have smashed me

I'm wondering whether the expansion is worthwhile - any experience? Seen they've announced another too, tho expect that'll be delayed now

Wife and I played first game of Memoir 44 last night (no particular reason ). Went down well so may play again this eve

We find the base game is plenty. The expansion adds quite a bit and gets more expansive but I feel the base is quite tight and well balanced.

Was tempted by Undaunted but decided I didn't need it because I had Memoir 44
We've now played the first two scenarios... Playing 2 again tonight so I can try reclaim some pride and set history right.

Since when has needing a game or not been an accepted criteria to weigh up a purchase?

The general what you've been playing discussion thread

Wavelength

Expensive import but what an amazing game it is. The kids love it and itís very good over zoom. Total lock down winner.

Interesting. Glanced at this but just put it in the general party game category... How old are the kids? And what makes it so good?

Kids are 8 and 10.

The variety on the Ďspectrum cardsí is great. Can be as simple as hot/cold, or maybe something a bit more opaque like unreasonable phobia/reasonable phobia.

It then constantly challenges you depending on where the pointer is on the scale. At either end is generally pretty easy but anything in or either side of the middle can be really tough. Itís the conversation and arguments for and against that it generates that is great, with the other team dropping in some misdirection for fun and then getting a chance to snatch a point at the end.

It gives you a real insight into peopleís psyches.

And the tension of the reveal is awesome.

Itís a nailed on classic. Played it with a number of different groups - the discussions it triggers are solid gold.

And about 50% of people start looking for places to buy it on their phones before the gameís even finished.

It's Wavelength something that will age? Like trivial pursuit of whatever where the questions are no longer relevant?
Kids a bit little tob play it now so wondering if worth it in socially distanced times

Nope

Better hot < - > Better cold, as an example, is not time limited.

We played it again over zoom at the weekend. Itís now comfortably my favourite party game, just ahead of Just One, Decrypto and Codenames.

Iíve got Concept arriving today which Iím also looking forward to.

Ps. Using my example above, chorizo is 30 degrees from 12 oíclock better hot
