Well, seeing as Phelings was banned over a year ago it seems he must be more memorable than you say.
And for " provocative idiot" you must mean " one who gives an opinion without worrying about your little schoolroom rules and tells you straight what a bunch of wan5ers you are".
See you on the next username

I only remember you because none of us had dared booked our holidays as per your statement when we banned you last time. The main reason I remember you is from that incident with the goat and the Marigold.

As I said, none of us care what you say or think as it's all water off a ducks back and when you have the members telling you like it is then you really should listen to them rather then attack them too. I'm sure you'll convince yourself that we have brainwashed them all into good little members who are part of the flock, but then again maybe they aren't the one with the obvious attitude problem and that's why they don't get banned.

Simply by continuing to use the forum when you obviously hate the staff and its members so much you are proving yourself a hypocrite and clearly the only person with the problem. But I guess that's our fault too.

Not to mention making a post, then coming back and simultaneously supporting yourself under another user name smacks of, well, shall we just say, it's a tad weird. I hope that's the end of it.

Finally I know why X site is banned. I've never knew this thread existed before, it's not a subforum I frequent.

Does anyone have the Legacy or Ultimate R1 Planet of the Apes box set?

I want to know if the New Remastered R1 DVDs look really any better compared against the UK R2 box set versions?

The UK R2 were already anamorphic so they're not Remastered but for R1 they got new prints (plus DD5.1 and the longer cut for the last film). I can only find reviews comparing the new with old R1 box set, which means little to me when the old R1 box set was rubbish.

Thanks

Planet of the Apes Legacy Boxset R1

Video & Audio

All five films are presented in their original Panavision/Todd-AO 35 aspect ratios, with stellar 16:9 transfers that improve upon the older 16:9 DVDs released internationally. The later films don't appear all that different, but Planet of the Apes and, to a lesser extent, Beneath look exceptionally clean and sharp, free from dirt and age-related wear. Planet of the Apes offers myriad sound options: English Dolby Surround 5.1 and DTS, as well as French Dolby Surround and Spanish mono, along with English and Spanish subtitles. The sequels have English 5.1 Dolby Surround, the original English mono, and a French Mono track, as well as English and Spanish subtitles. Behind the Planet of the Apes (see below) is offered only in English Dolby Surround with English and Spanish subtitles. Each film comes with a terrific THX Optimizer that viewers can use not only to calibrate their sound systems, but also their television screens for maximum impact.

Thanks Spectre for the Amazon heads up.

TBH though I'm sure they've been cleaned up but I don't know how well they fare against the anamorphic but older UK DVDs. That reviewer is bound to be comparing against the lousy R1 non-anamorphic box set.

I'm going to plump for the Legacy box set regardless of seeing reviews of not as my UK R2 box set is pretty old now (so in theory should look better) and virtually bare-bones bar the excellent 2Hr documentary.

I do find it odd no on in the UK has upgraded and been able to compare.

According to the reviews I read, comparing the old R1 and R2 boxset, R1 were cleaner more detailed than the R2 discs but not anamorphic. Seeing as how the R2 Legacy Boxset is simply the old boxset re-released, the R1 Legacy set wins because the transfers used are better and are now anamorphic.

I see, thanks.

I'm wondering how much better, if it's a tiny amount I'm not sure I'm bothered. Hmmm not sure.

You were right it's $35.45/£18.55 at Amazon with no vouchers and $38.62/£20.21 at DDD with a 20% voucher. Which IMO is useless when the prices are higher than anywhere else anyway.

The best thing about the R1 collection is the new 5.1 mixes on all 5 films now.
Really brings the movies to life.
They are better than the UK set in every way
